Default 08 steer easier than a C5?

Is the 08 alot more user friendly when it comes to everyday driving. To me the c5 doesnt handle well. Even when I try to go fast on a freeway loop.It seemd like its laboring to handle the loop. My C5 sometimes seems like a hassle. Much simpler to jump in my Camry if a short trip to the store is needed. Thx

The '08 handles better than a C5 but I never felt like it was laborious to drive my C5. The C6 handles better than its predecessors but I think it also feels a little more disconnected from the road than my C3/C4/C5s.

I can tell you for certain that I'd never even consider taking a Camry instead of a vette unless there were other factors (like really bad weather or really bad parking at the destination) involved.

If simplicity is what you are looking for, then the Camry is probably a better car foir you and there's no reason to have the Corvette at all. As far as user friendliness, there isn't much difference between a C5 and a C6...although I've never seen user friendliness used as a criterion to judge a sports car. Sports cars are usually judged on things like cornering, speed, sporty looks etc. The Corvette, C5 or C6 excels in all of these.

I've never heard any press about a C5 not handling well. Sure the C6 handles better, but that's a natural result of improved design over the years. Compared to other 2003 cars, your C5 handles very well.

And dont get me wrong. They are nice cars and will most likely end up with a 08 c6. Just wondered how much LIGHTER the steering is compared to a c5. As lighter , is a term used in 2008 reviews. ' Lighter steering feel"
And yes will demo some soon.

As a soon-to-be-owner of a C6 I've been doing ALOT of "research" (some may say obsessing.) I've driven an 08, a pre 08 C6 and a C5. The 08 by far had the best "feel" to the steering. Like cclive was saying... it's all in the improvements over the years.

If I could find an 08 without horrendous mileage within my budget I would mostly likely go this route, for what it's worth. Good luck.

I had a C5 and moved to an 08 C6. I agree, the C5 doesn't handle as well as it could. I upgraded the sways to Z51 sways and that made a significant improvement. A lot less body roll, less pushing in corners. I understand that Z51 shocks stiffen up the ride, which I didn't want so I left the stock shocks. The steering is heavy on the C5 compared to the C6.

The 08 C6 has 3 significant improvements. The steering is a lot better, lighter yet more precise. The A6 trans is much smoother than the 4 speed auto in the C5. The extra 86 HP in the C6 makes the car feel a lot more responsive and "lighter" than the C5. The 08 C6 with npp is a beast compared to the C5, making it seem slower, heavier and bulkier.

I liked my C5, a lot, but the C6 is a bigger jump than the C6 to C7 in performance terms.

My '01 C5 handled great... it was a C5 Z06. My next Corvette is a 1LT '08 Coupe. After the 6+ years I've had it I like its steering and handling better than my Z. Great sports car.

I have owned 25 vettes from all of the first 6 generations and the C6 handles much better than the C5 and is more fun to drive. The C6 is much more fun to drive and more like the C4 was.

That being said the C5 was nicer to drive on long trips, more comfortable and roomier. To me the C5 was more of a luxury sports car and less of a performance handling car.

Last October I sold my C5 '04 Coupe. It was mint with 23k miles. The ONLY thing I hated about that car was the stiff steering. I kept flushing the p/strg fluid and put in Royal Purple synthetic, hoping that would help. But the damn steering was still stiff. There was simply not enough assist coming from the rack.

So, I ended up buying a C6 '08 Coupe with 13k miles, and on the test drive, the very first thing I noticed was that the steering felt normal. It was WAYYY lighter than the '04. Much nicer to drive around......

Thx. Im really looking forward to my first c6 drive. The c5 steering is quite firm. Not a good thing for a short trip. I feel like I have to put on my driving gloves and really be ready for a short jaunt. Lol I really dont have gloves

My old C5 handled well. It was an 01, it was made to drive fast in a straight line if you ask me. The C6 handles better. I think the C5 felt more like a race car than the C6, but either way I love the Corvette for what it is. Mine isn't a DD because I wouldn't enjoy it as much if I drove it everyday and everywhere.

My 07 is still light years ahead of a C5. I test drove a C5, and it felt like driving around a cheap plastic rattle trap. The C6 is incredibly comfortable and easy to drive. It also handles bad weather a lot better than the C5.

My c5 doesn't seem cheap, just heavy steering and average handling

There is a huge difference in handling of a C6 compared to a C5. All for the good.
