I did a search and found that some people have experienced some issues with the Window Valet and most have been resolved by re-indexing the windows. But I experienced an unusual series of errors yesterday and want to ask if anyone has seen these same issues.
I replaced the original battery in the car (`10 GS convertible) 3 weeks ago. The Window Valet worked before AND after the battery swap. Yesterday it quit working totally. Then the convertible top would not go down and the trunk would not open using either the dash button, rear button or fob button. After I opened the trunk with the key all methods of opening the trunk worked again, but the top still would not go down. When I got home I removed the Window Valet and the top worked fine. Tried the top twice, re-installed the Window Valet and again the top would not move. Will try to contact Top Down Technology tomorrow, but I don't plan on using the Window Valet again until I know more answers.
I am going to replace fob batteries and re-index windows today.
I agree, strange. Remember that the top movement is closely tied to the trunk being closed and also the windows being down. This may help in the ultimate diagnosis.
make sure u got the battery terminals nice an tight if u can move them with your hand they are not tight enough an a poor contact can cause all sorts of electrical problems
I would unplug the window valet and disconnect the battery, wait 15 min and reconnect the battery then install the W V.
Wonder if any damage was done during the battery change? I doubt it as I am on my 4th battery and never thought to remove the W V.
Strange.......

I wondered about that also, but the WV, top, trunk, etc worked fine for weeks after the battery swap.

I immediately thought it could be the microswitches on the panel in the trunk - that's when I found out I couldn't open the trunk. After I used the key to open the trunk, I checked the switches & they are tight. After that the trunk would open normally with either the dash button, rear button or fob button.

Also double-checked the terminals this morning - solid as a rock.
Everything returned to working normally after I removed the Window Valet. I will wait to hear from Top Down Tech and see if they have a solution. If I don't hear back from them, I'm afraid it will just be another $150 toy I can't play with anymore.
