Can't help but notice those chrome wheels on the '63 SWC lookalike, sharp...

Also, for $160+k you could have a real '63 and a real '67. Just saying. Those conversions aren't cheap ($100k for the kit and the cost of the car it's going on).

pretty cool!.....if I were the type that liked sitting around at car shows answering the same questions over and over while I polished my car, then this would be perfect....ha!

seriously tho, it would amazing to have a Split Window TARGA.....with a LS3 and all the road manners & convenience of a modern c6......cant imagine spending that money tearing apart a brand new 2013 GS, but if there was a c6 that got banged up a little, needed bodywork already, but had great powertrain and was a serious bargain.....then it makes sense....

absolutely love the original c2 design(C1 & C3 also).....but they drive like tanks....
of course in their time that was as good as it got...
so I would never consider owning an original because I like to drive cars and not continually repair them, and this c6 conversion would be a nice compromise between and original & a Resto-mod show car that had fully reworked suspension/power train etc.....

people have been taking and building AC Cobras for decades on mustang or even Vette chassis'.....

but I have seen some where the proportions just aren't quite right, and its hard for me to tell from these pictures, because you usually get the real story from a side view that shows the full length of the car.... all the angled shots look pretty cool tho....love to see one in person...

to see that side view; how the interior has been integrated; the detail in the overall conversion and headlights...

Ok, ok, I corrected it.

Geeeze, can't a guy make a spelling error around here without hearing from the spelling/grammar commandos?

I've made a note of you, and 2 or 3 others, who've expressed negative opinions regarding full body conversions.

Rest assured, you will not be forced to have it done.

It's interesting how many folks talk about how much "attention" a conversion gets compared to something else.

I really don't get it.
For me, this has nothing to do with attention.

It's simply a matter of whether or not a person likes this kind of car, period.
Personally, I love the C2 body styles and think they are the classic look of Corvette.
However, I much prefer the low maintenance, high torque & power, advanced electronics, steering and suspension geometry, as well as the interior, of my C6 vs. any C2.

For me, the ultimate 'vette would be everything I described above in my C6, mated to a custom fitted, '63 swc, or '67 L88 body.

I also could not care less about resale value, since this would be a car I'd keep for the rest of my life.
And, when that's over, it would be left to my grandson.

Nope, as far as I'm concerned, this would be the ultimate car for me, and I couldn't care less who likes it, or doesn't like it.

I agree, classic old chrome, or mag wheels are the only wheels that would look right on a classic old 'vette like the C2.

As for your second statement, I wouldn't want a "real" C2, pursuant to my explanation above.

Once again, to each his own, once you understand that I'm right.

We had a C2 conversion on a C5 donor car at one of our shows, the car was assembled in California. Cost him 77K plus the donor.

Well, maybe a little.

But, we have to be careful these days. Don't want the thread locked for racism.

I didn't know you were making notes.
You can count me as a no. It looks like someone smashed a split window coupe. It is too short and fat looking. (Kind of like me) .

I don't know when this turned into a count of yes/no opinions of body conversions, but ok, you're duly recognized as a no.

Like I said earlier, I couldn't care less.

If I can afford it, I'll do it. Anyone who doesn't like it, doesn't have to look at it.

Ain't that simple?

That car, and I believe those pictures were at our local Corvettes on the Columbia Corvette weekend this last weekend in Pasco Washington! It is an awesome looking car and took several awards home! I don't know who did the customizations, but I know it's mounted on a C-6 ZO6 chassis and is beautiful wicked!! You really have to see it in person to appreciate how really cool it is! $135K

Awesome looking conversion, I would definitely consider it if the cost were somewhat reasonable.
Interesting to see what that $$$ is.

I wrote to Karl's on Sunday, and spoke with their rep. yesterday, so I expect to get some fundamental info soon.

They know where to reach me, so I'm in a waiting mode right now.

Look nice - well maybe the chrome wheels only - I will say 100k+donor car, if I was to take a shot in the dark... Put me as lukewarm in the poll...

I think it would be awesome to have them document the conversion with a bunch of photos. Would like to see the progression.

Get to it Hammy!!!

But this is an open forum, and some people are different. No one has been belligerent, just a different set of taste in cars.

I know the thread started as a "kumbyeya" love in over the car, but I guess others feel the same as I do.

But like you said, "if I can afford it"...well, go at er man

Not sure I understand where you're coming from???

I never said anyone has been belligerent, or even suggested such a thing.

I just said that I'm not sure when this turned into a yes/no, I like it/ don't like it, poll thing.

The intent was simply to get some information regarding these full body conversions, that's all.
If folks want to express their opinions, they can have at it, I don't care. I haven't attempted to suppress anyone's opinion.

I think I've made my personal position rather clear.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I'm simply not influenced by others opinions, nor do I expect they'll be influenced by mine.

It's not necessary to lecture me on the fact that this is an open forum, and people have different tastes, etc.

I'm a big boy, I'm aware of that.

No one said you said anyone was belligerent, it was an observation. You know, that people were expressing views, other than yours, in an open forum, in a non belligerent manner.

Comprendo ?

Let us all know when you get the car

I've just received the following e-mail...

"The cost to convert your Grand Sport Coupe into a ’63 or ’67 style will be $95,000.
This will give you the conversion painted your choice of color with your interior, drivetrain and tires/wheels.
Of course we offer options/upgrades to this but that is the number at where it is going to start.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need additional information."
