Escort 9500ix Radar detector
Looking to get the Escort Radar detector; couple of questions.
Do I really need the mirror mount versus the suction cups, can't really see that much difference for the money?
If I do get the mirror mount how does it plug into the mirror for power; does it have to be wired or is their a plug in on the mirror?
For those that have one is it worth the money or just a nice to have gadget? I hear the many of the HP don't leave their radar guns on and do spot hits that will not be detected in time from a car radar detector?

I love mine and especially the mirror mount. It has reminded me to drive the speed limit multiple times, at the right times.
two pins with the cord need to be inserted in the harness that attaches to the mirror. In my opinion, the mirror needs to be removed to hook it up. The mirror removal was a little concerning, but i figured it out and it worked out fine for me.

I have a mirror tap cord I'll sell ya. I went with Escort live and never used this cord. $10 shipped.

I have after market exhaust B&B and with the roof off will I be able to hear it working on the mirror mount? Also which would you recommend the MAX or the 9500ix? I am reading that the max is too hard to read in sunlight?

Yes, the volume is plenty loud enough, I have the 9500ix and the Bel 6500 an they both are loud enough, I can post a pic of the mount

I have the Escort 9500ix and it has already paid for itself.
The NEW suction cups work great, much better than the older ones. I use a suction cup with my Escort 8500 in my Acura. I have a home made mount for the 9500ix in the Vette. It is mounted through one of the screws for the sun visor mount.
As for inserting the wires into the back of the mirror, that wiring plug pulls out of the back of the mirror so no need to take the mirror itself off.
Once you get the wiring plug out, it makes it much easier to insert the 2 connectors for the radar power..

Blend mount is the way to go. Cost some money but well built and worth it. Works so good I bought one for my Ford truck. Get the wire taps for install. No power cord hanging from the dash and no suction cups on the glass.

if you dont have the 3LT mirror you can run a phone cord across the windshield header and down the A-pillar and tap into the passenger fuse box. I did that along with the custom mount that puts the detector at the top of the windshield by the visor.

My input is neither. I recommend the Escort Redline or Beltronics STI Magnum. Different generation horn and has a longer range. They don't have the fancy GPS features, but the range has always been most important to me. I've had 9500ix and Redline both. Redline is hands down my favorite. Bel STI is their version of the Redline. (Beltronics and Escort are the same company, in case anyone was not aware)

Been using the 9500ix for several years now,it has saved my butt moore times than I can count, most recently our trip back from the IMSA race at Watkins Glen this past weekend. The range of the detector is amazing, the GPS learns and blocks all the false alarms around your normal driving area. The redlight camera location warnings are invaluable on road trips in other cities, not to mention the weekly updates of the data base. I have a a visor mount tapped into the mirror.
