Hi All
Recently purchased a 2010. has 2lt option with blue tooth and no GPS.
If I add a new OEM GPS system to the car what would I need as far as wiring?
I would just use a Garmin rather than install an OEM GPS.
TOTALLY
I too have a 2010 2LT, no GPS. I have friends who have GM Nav Systems and they are always getting lost or bad data. Reason it's CD Data based and the data is no better than the latest CD. Garmin is live updates over the internet.
I love my Garmin, it so far ahas been pin point perfect, it Estimate time of arrivall (ETA) is spot on. Do yourself a favor....go Garmin.
Quick story, I was travelling down I-90 in NY. About as fast as the radio station stated there was a terrible accedent avoid my current route. My Garmin, on its own, quickly had me off ramp and avoid the accedent and traffic jam. It recieved the information and recalculated route. Love my Garmin
But, answer your question, yes you can install a GM Nav System. There are a couple of threads on here that address this. Best guess at cost....$1600. High Quality Garmin line...$500.
So would you say that Garmin is more user friendly and accurate than the build in GM system. I am looking to get the 2013 DVD but if it doesn't work that well would I be better off just up grading my Garmin. Not concerned about the cord, just want the best system.
My Nav system in my 2012 GS Coupe is total crap! Just the other day it was wanting me to turn right into a local Lake in the middle of the forest, not even close to roads or towns!!!

My question was would my current setup be a easy install or would I have to spice wires? I know all about how crappy the OEM unit is.

They all have their flaws in accuracy. I have the OEM GM in my 07 and find it to be as accurate as my TomTom. But it's interface is from the early 2000's at best. Maybe even the 90's. It's just not intuitive.
That said, it may have more features and functions than Garmin, Tom Tom, etc. But it was designed by an engineer for engineers.
My apologies to the OP for hijacking the thread.

Good Luck
I bought my 2012 GS at a small dealership in the country and it came with the GM NAV System. I travelled to the dealership using my Garmin 1490 LMT and I went straight to the dealership. After all the paperwork and closing the deal I started for home with my Garmin in it's storage bag using the GM unit to guide me home in my Corvette. In the GM units defense, I wasn't familiar with using it but I figured how hard could it be. I put in my destination (home) address and it was raining and dark so I was relying on the GM NAV unit since I couldn't see that well on the country roads. I got lost twice taking wrong turns and the second time i got lost I got my Garmin out of its bag hooked it up and it took me straight home. I haven't turned my factory NAV unit on since. If I need directions I'm using my Garmin.

Also! The development cycle of electronics is far faster than that of cars...this means that the electronics in cars are almost always behind the times. A Garmin for $100 will be way ahead of an oem NAV unit that was developed for the 2005 Corvette.
I installed a Garmin Zumo motorcycle GPS mount in my '13 1LT so I could swap the GPS between the Harley and Vette. I ended up finding a second Zumo 665 for a good price and now have two, so no swap needed.
My setup has worked out very well and you can read about it here, although it may be more of a project than you want to deal with. Note that the GPS can't be mounted in its current location when the top is off.

I removed my factory GM Nav unit from my '08 and replaced it with a new OEM Bose 6 disk CD player with aux port for my MP3. I use an old Garmin Nuvi which works great. The GM unit had it's good points, but F'd me up one too many times. Happy with my Garmin.
When I replaced my OEM radio, I went with radio without GPS, I use Garmin which is easy to update when needed with lifetime updates and if I want to replace the GPS no need to replace the complete unit. I also have clip to hold the GPS in place with works awesome.
