C6 Low Beam Headlight Wire Recall (MERGED)
Posted this on the sticky but for anyone else interested, I received a recall notice from GM today for my '05 regarding the low beam light failure. Said no parts were available yet but I would be notified when parts were available so I could bring it in. Just a FYI.

The computer at my dealership doesn't show anything in the way of recalls for my early '07. I'm wondering when, if ever, I'll get a letter from GM.

Oh no...headlamps might fail!
Got my notice from the mothership that the UBEC housing can expand when the engine is warm and my low beam headlights will not illuminate until the housing cools. Gosh, you would think it might have already happened in the nine years I have had my 2005. Not to worry though, they don't have parts yet to fix it. When they do the dealer will install a jumper wire as a fix which sounds reassuring. Will all this ever end?

There is a sticky about the GM recalls for C6s. Information about this subject is also in that thread. Here's a link to it.

There's also another thread about it here:

If you have never had your car to a chevy dealer for service they have no way of knowing you own it unless you bought it from a GM dealer. If you bought it from another owner, how would they know?

I'm still a little miffed.
I have a 2005 (original owner) that this has happened to. It stranded me, BTW, and I paid for it, out of my own pocket. I still have not been notified that this is even a recall.
Starting to get a little more miffed! I will post every time this comes up as it pisses me off.

The VIN number follows registration. Registered owners get the recalls. I got one the wifes RAV bought at a Nissan dealer used.

This is not true: I am the 2nd owner of my '06 car purchased from a private individual and GM has been sending me recall notices for the roof for at least six years! I ignore them and my car has not been taken to any dealer since I have owned it plus, the roof is not separating. I did however have OnStar active for a year or so.
