Default Redundant Plate Frames

Anyone else think having the Corvette name on the plate frame is rather redundant? or any car having a plate from with the name of the car inches from the name of the car on the car....

.. Lots of Lexus owners do this as well.

Ok Maybe on the C7 since they don't look like Corvettes from the rear the extra nomenclature would be a good idea.

Was "07" a typo when you meant C7?

I don't like plate frames at all. Especially the free advertising plate frames from stealerships.

+1 on this. The dealer I bought mine from put one of these around the temporary tag on my car. I removed the frame when installed the new tag this morning.

I would rather the Dealer frame I can take off than the sticky decals they put on cars. I remember when they used METAL riveted dealership logos. In that case budget cutting worked out for those of us who don;t want to give the dealer free advertising.

OP, I am with you on this. Why do I want to put a ZR1 labeled plate frame on my ZR1? It is so redundant. I even asked a vendor if they had any plans to make a plate that said, "My other car is a ZR1". But, they had no such plans. Heck, I would probably buy one for my daily driver; a Subaru Outback.

The only thing identifying these cars from the rear is the "Corvette" on the lower right, which isn't all that visible, being the body color.

Besides, work is slow and I needed something to do.

The ones I find are redundant are when they have the flags, license plate frame, chrome exhaust plate and stainless Corvette lettering all on the rear.

My parents were looking for a new car back in 1984 and were looking at a Buick Skyhawk. They found one on the dealer's lot they liked and put a deposit down on it. When they came back to finalize the deal the next day, the dealer had drilled into the trunk lid and screwed on their logo emblem. My dad politely asked for his deposit back and went to a different dealership. He specifically told them not to put any stickers or emblems on the car.

I don't mind the stenciled letters as much as the plastic plate type. I can't stand any of them that are put on crooked, and I'll remove those immediately.

I say the more flags and emblems, the better.

The guy from who I bought my C6 had a nice chrome frame with flags on both sides and CORVETTE on the lower portion of the frame. I used it for a while before deciding that indeed it was a bit redundant since the main flag emblem is on the rear just above the frame and the word CORVETTE is just to the right of the license frame. I put chrome letters in there as well.

So... I replaced that frame with a blank chrome frame that I think is sharp. And yes, I'm 62 and do like chrome...especially with my Victory Red Vette.

I pretty much agree with you except I'm not sure "redundant" is the right word; perhaps "over the top" is a better phrase with a more negative connotation.

I think a frame on a plate looks better than just a bare plate. So I have a pewter one from my university. It can also keep a non-flat plate from rattling, especially if it's held on by only two screws instead of four. The only problem is that the frames inevitably cover up some of the information on the plate, and that could be mildly illegal in some states. I've never had it to be a problem though.

And if you put a "Corvette" frame on a C7 ... folks will think you're just trying to convince them that your Camaro is really a Corvette ....

Default Plate

My theme is chrome/black. The plate is Walmart ,sprayed with chrome paint, very understated. The lettering,[ if you can make it out ] is chrome followed by silver glitter spray.

Having Corvette logo and flags all over the car and interior is very redundant.
