since brand new i've been using amsoil in my vette. personally the 2 best oils out there are, amsoil and pennzoil. castrol and mobil1 in my book are just a lower grade oil that belong in foreign jobbers. thats my opinion and i'm sticking to it.

Do you have a link to that whitepaper? I have seen several and never have I seen Pennz come in 2nd,, I have seen GM synthetic gear oil beat Mobil 1, but every engine oil comparison I have seen Mobil 1 has been 2nd.

More than happy to get AMSOIL products for forum members at dealer wholesale pricing, about 25% below retail, via the AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program. Drop me a PM if interested.
Great oil and a great vender.

no. but twice i've seen it and it was the same. out of the 10 tests they perform, pennzoil beat mobil1. maybe not by much, but still beat it out. maybe someone on the forum has that test they can share with us.

This is a link to AMSOIL's current tests. The Study of SAE 5w30 Synthetic Motor Oils is the 3rd one down:
AMSOIL Performance Tests

This study doesn't specifically rank the oils and how they perform varies by the individual tests.

In my opinion it's a good, better best thing. I've been using Amsoil in my race cars and my Corvette for years. My 2011 ZR1 gets it too. Mobil one has always been a top end oil but there are better choices out there. Does your car need the better choices? I'll bet none of you (me included) keep a car long enough to determine if the oil you're using has made a difference in how long your engine lasts or what difference it makes in engine wear. Don't forget about the deal Corvette made with Mobil oil. I'm not privy to the arrangements between the two companies but your oil cap doesn't say Mobil One because GM thinks it's the best. There are advertising benefits for them both to be sure.

This is the first test I have seen with Pennzoil Ultra,, looks like they have stepped up to the plate.

pennzoil was the "sleeper" of oils that many people never thought twice about. i was using pennzoil before i went to amsoil. matter of fact, i still use pennzoil for my honda and ford. and since i change the oil on my vette every 5000 miles, i may just go back to it due to the price vs. amsoils.

Is Ams Oil good. Yes it is. But here is a little secret about motor oil. ANY motor oil that meets the manufactures specs will protect your engine just fine. So you can by the cheapest 5-30 you can find that meets GMs specs for your car, it will live long and prosper as long as you change it per the Manufactures guidelines or sooner if you prefer your own intervals. With that said, I use M1 and buy it when its on sale.
