I got a call from my dealership today...they said the parts would be shipped to then on Nov 4th.. and they should have them shortly after and do the work and I should have my car back by mid to late November.
So... they still have it.. and are keeping it locked indoors... as i'm not driving it this time of year anyways.
I'll post another update when I hear more.

take care all!

To share my experience - I had this replacement done twice first at 55k and second at 110k. Gm said I'd be reimbursed for both times. I had my work done at an independent shop for just about 2k each time. After submitting receipts to dealer I don't hear anything for 3+ weeks. Start calling the dealer every day without getting a call back for a week. I report it to GM service who can't get ahold of them either. They escalate to a case manager. That same day I'm informed there's a check in the mail for $3,560.10. When pressed as to why the full amount wasn't reimbursed was told that if repairs are done at an independent shop there is a limit to the amount GM is paying out. Which is evidently $1,780.05 per repair.

Because it was done at an independent shop I also sent in credit card statements verifying the amount paid as advised by the GM representative

To those making a claim I would suggest frequently calling to check on the status and escalating to GM if your dealer seems reluctant to handle the refund

I went to the dealer the other day and they tried to tell me my 2007 wasnt covered because the tsb didnt show up under the special coverage listing when they pulled up my vin. Has anyone else had this issue? I paid roughly 2 grand to get this fixed in 2012...

Well, I picked up my car today. While they were taking it apart, they "discovered" that the driver side fuel tank also developed a crack. A 9 gallon plastic tank appears to be worth $1025.00 to GM. Parts guy gave me a whole lot better price on it and they got it together. Drove it home tonight. Also replaced the right side fuel module since it was apart, change the trans filter and fluid. We'll see how long this lasts.

Good luck Ladies and Gents.

Service department is recommending to have the fuel level sending unit replaced. The old one has to be used on the new units, and they claim there have been reports of plastic tabs hold it in place breaking off l. Not sure if they are blowing smoke or not. Anyone else heard this? Its only $100 for the part and no additional labor costs.

ChevyCobb,
While they've got it apart on their dime, $100 is just good insurance IMHO.

I got the call from Atlantic Chevy today. The car is ready!!! I will pick up the car tomorrow.
One odd thing they said the bill was $20 since they filled up the tank with gas to ensure it wasn't leaking. Anyone else get that? Anyway it was dropped off on 9/29 back on 11/5.

Well... I picked my car up today... all done.. and so far.. no smell of gas.

When I first took the car in.. I asked if at the same time they are replacing the fuel pump.. as I was aware there were issues with those too... and I was told it would be replaced.. but. I see the parts on the work order , and there is no fuel pump on it.
I really don't have a problem... as all was working before and is fine now... but.. just was expecting the replacement after being told so.
ya.. I know... I'm nit picking.

anyways.. happy to have the car back.. now.. to put it away for the winter.

What I wouldn't give for a bigger garage for more toys.

take care all

Yeah I went ahead and told them to replace it. It was finished yesterday, so one week from diagnosis to part replacement.

The smell of gas was so strong when the tank was filled it was virtually undriveable. I wasn't worried about the car, I was worried about the people in the car. Glad your car was fixed without incident.

I had a strong odor if I was outside the car but never had the smell inside

Jm,
I never smelled it inside either, but outside was a strong odor. And park it in a garage, it smelled like someone poured gas all around.

My 2010 Grand Sport leaked fuel so when I heard there was a bulletin I went to my GM dealer who said they could only assess the problem by removing the tank. They did and the tank was cracked but not covered $1025 -- Then the module was defective but not exactly as GM has described in the bulletin so another $555 -- Add $1200 in labour and I basically purchased a plastic tub due to a manufacturer's defect for $3,400. I alerted GM Corporate and some Rep immediately called me to let me know I was S.O.L...Thanks GM. Be on the look-out for a great deal on a 2010 GS.

The area circled in red is defective BUT GM will only refund the cost of this module if the area in green was defective!!
