Not sure what if any recalls have been done. I saw another issue about under hood wiring recall that is important to.

I'm in the process of registering my car with GM. As I recall they're supposed to have a record of all recalls necessary or done on any car you register.

I say supposed to, because I registered my 1983 Buick Riviera convertible, and there's no record of anything. There were a couple of important recalls they did back in the day, and I'd like to know what if anything was done. I'm guessing that they didn't have a computer data base in place way back.

Dave
Dave, I've a 2007 Z51 also and no gas smell. I am the fourth owner of the car, which I understand has spent its entire life in California. I don't know if we should be concerned or not - - most of the problems reported according to this thread have to do with the use of E85 fuel, or with 2008 or later cars, to my understanding. I worry about the horrible roads in our area and the vibration which "might" eventually cause a failure, but again, just my thoughts. GM will not address this voluntary recall issue on cars without the smell of gas.

As for registering your car with GM, if you have gone to your local or preferred GM dealer for any service work, your car's VIN should be entered into the system. GM should mail any subsequent recall notices to you as necessary. Also, you might request a VIS report from the GM service rep if you haven't done so already. This report will show whats has been done (at any GM dealership) and if prior recalls have been addressed, as applicable. Hope this info helps.

Steve

It was the the fuel module. The dealer had to order it and recommended replacing the sensors at the same time. I have an '06. GM won't do anything.

Dropping off my 08 in about an hour to have the smoke test done. I saw someone else mention that fuel level shouldn't matter, right? I have a little over 1/4 tank right now. I wasn't sure if I should fill up before bringing it in.

The bulletin I read said it should be below 3/8 of a tank if i'm not mistaken.

I received the letter from GM regarding my 2009 Coupe. It says that it only happens when the talk is at least half full, and no mention of fuel level when bringing it in for service. I don't smell anything in my garage or on the outside of the car, just when I am in the car mainly with the windows open after getting on it a little bit. Maybe I don't have the problem but really don't want to take a chance.

I received the letter from GM regarding my 2009 Coupe. It says it should only happen with the fuel tank at 1/2 full or more but nothing about what level to have when taking it in. I don't notice any smell at all when the car is parked in my garage, just seems like when I have the windows open after getting on it a bit. Maybe no prob at all and just exhaust? not sure if I should take the chance. Can any Chevrolet dealer test and repair?

For this type of coverage, should the dealership provide you with a loaner vehicle while they work on yours?

They provided me with a 2017 Malibu. I was hoping for a C7Z.

Default Shifter cable/ resurfacing fuel pump issues

I have a 2008 C6 LS3 Automatic Coupe with 119,500miles

Hit me up if you have any other issues after replacing this under the chevy warranty.

I was quoted another $2400 today after this free warranty recall repair/$150 sensor kit. It was $3100 prior to me reminding the shop that they had just performed the recall service 7months ago.

Tips for people getting the recall service.

1. It takes awhile to get the parts 1-2weeks for me in Texas.

2. If you have an automatic, definitely, have them check the shift cable during the repair as I had to return the second time at another $700 because the shifter cable broke on the way home after replacing the fuel pump due to the vapor link issue. I ended up taking it to a different shop and they said that the cable looked like it had been tinkered with. The dealer also claimed that this is a common problem, but curiously not related to the repair.

3. So get this, the transmission cooler lines are now leaking and will cost me $1800. According to the Special Coverage Adjustment, 2 cooler pipe fitting retainers are part of what is being replaced...

4. My passenger fuel pump is failing ...error code B1325. Please contact me if you notice that your fuel gauge drops after 6-12 miles on a full tank and we will figure out this issue together.

I thought that I saw someone mention a smoke test. Are Chevy dealers doing a smoke test to confirm a leak? If so what are the parameters to initiate them doing so?

Recently I spoke with GM (not the dealer) to check out if my car had recalls done, and they said that you need a strong smell and malfunction indicator dash light for them to do anything about the gas tank issue.

This issue wont create an error code in most cases. The leaking fuel should be more than enough proof for them to fix it...

The smoke test is a waste of time, it won't show anything for the leak in the fitting on top of the fuel pump.

I just got a call from Chevy and they told me that they couldn't find anything indicative of a leak. They put it up on a lift and didn't smell anything. Looked around for leaks and found nothing. Then they performed the smoke test which passed. Is it likely that I still have the issue? Kind of annoyed because I know I smelled gas before.

Parts came in on Friday. I dropped my car off at the dealership this morning. The service advisor said it would be done today although they looked pretty busy. I guess we'll wait and see.

new at this don't know if this is right have a 2009 Z51 3LT coupe called my local dealer ?? them about fuel leak issue said they didn't know anything about it. Then they called me back said they found the recall. Bring it in they would do a smoke test so did so. They called said they found the leak at top of fuel pump but would take couple three week or more for parts. Called me 2 days later said car was done he called around to other dealers found one. Picked car up didn't cost a dime.

After having the recall done the fuel smell issue was better but could still smell fuel after it sat overnight. I replaced the fuel cap twice but could still smell fuel around the cap. After adding an o-ring to the cap where it seals to filler neck the smell is completely gone. Hopes this helps.
