So in my case I am still dealing with false CEL light and big dollar gas tank worry (and HB worry too).

Going to drive it and enjoy it.
This might be ok in OK but in TX we have to get a safety inspection every year and a CEL will fail the test. I am experiencing the same problem but have not found the cause yet. My tank pump was changed by dealer last December so it's a new issue that I'll tell all when I find the fault.

I just bought a 2008 C6 this week. Had a C5 years ago and now finally coming back to the family. All that new car excitement went away real fast -- first fillup at the gas station and gas is running down the side of the tank! So bummed. But found this thread and and GM extended warranty letter. Took that to my local Chevy dealer this morning and they are replacing the fuel pump under the warranty even though my car is 5 days past the 10 year warranty period -- whew! Feel like I dodged a major bullet there. Big props to GM and the dealer for fixing this just outside the warranty period.

Good luck but don't get feeling too good just yet.
Remember many here got huge bills for other stuff like broken tanks and other various parts when they had the dealer do this job.
It's why I chose to do it myself instead of taking it to the dealer even though it would have been covered.

It is safe to say that the seller knew what was wrong with it, and did not disclose it to you. That REALLY sucks.

How is your car 5 days past the warranty? I also have a 2008 and the GM website says I have until May 23rd, 2018 on my 3 warranties.

My fuel pump was replaced in August under the adjustment warranty. The cutoff date was October 5 2017 for mine.

The fuel pump may/may not solve the problem

Chevy dealer replaced the fuel pump, tested the fuel system, gave it a hand wash, and fixed a TPMS issue I was having that I didn't even ask about. Total bill: $0. Car runs great and gas leak is gone!

My 2008 car's in-service date was late September 2007.

If there is a recall I can't find it. I am going next week for the fuel smell letter we got to replace the fuel pump but it does not include the tank. I searched my vin and it comes up 0 recalls. If anyone has a link to a recall for the tank I would like to have it when I take the car in. thanks

It's not a full recall. I forget what GM calls it. It's done on a case by case basis.
Review pasted posts in this thread and you'll get the right terminology. I think it's called a "bulletin"
The dealer I bought it from fixed mine, just after I bought it from them used.

Its not a recall It has been mentioned here many times GM extended the warranty to 10 years from date of in service or 120k miles.

You have 10 years from the date that the car was put into service. This is a bulletin not a recall & only covers the fuel pump, not the tank(s) or the hoses. The bulletin number is #15682

That is all I can find. No recall just a service bulletin and letter.

Default c5 gas leak under drivers side

I own a 1998 C5 convertible and love it. But it has developed a gas leak. It seems to be worse when the tank is full, but is not limited to that situation. And when it leaks, I loose about a quart or few on the ground, underneath the drivers side. I have taken it in to a chevy dealer, but amazingly, they could not find the cause due to it would not leak for them. Anybody have any ideas of what could be wrong? And where would be a good place to take it to have it fixed? I am in Texas, in the 78121 zip.

Help Please.

Sounds like a leak in the fuel filler neck.
