The issue reared it's ugly head on my 2013 base model. Just got back from Chevy dealer. It was leaking pretty bad from the top on the left tank (drivers side). Any longer delayed , and it would have been leaking onto the exhaust. They're supposed to provide me with a loaner at no charge. Just waiting on an available car. The left side, I was told, is the lesser of 2 evils, about a 3 hour job. If it turns out to be the tank on the other side ,than it's much more involved. If it was, the technician said he would have to drop the tranny and exhaust system to get at it. I'm looking at 4-5 days for all parts to arrive and they assured me, my Vette would be protected in a covered facility next to the garage. So far , so good. Let's hope it stays that way. All I can say is, if you smell a strong gas smell anywhere near the car or obviously inside the cabin, don't wait to bring it in !! It could be catastrophic. Best of luck to those in the same situation. with their beloved car.

FYI, after having my fuel pump replaced a couple years ago, now the sender unit in the passenger tank is failing, and it appears this too is a very common problem. In hindsight, I wish I had paid the dealership to replace the passenger sender unit as well while they had it apart, because now I'm faced with having to through this whole thing again.

A word to the wise - if GM is paying to replace the left pump, pay them to replace the right side sender unit while they have it apart. You'll save yourself tons of grief later.

What did this end up running you? I asked them what it would cost for my automatic that had the fuel leak on driver side and I was given a 900$ estimate for the other tank while the car was still apart. 2010 A6 74k mi replaced drivers side with 19354664 sending unit. I opted out and will attempt myself if issue comes up.

$1900 for my 2008 Z06. I was 2 1/2 months outside the GM service bulletin where they would have covered it.

Is GM repairing all C6’s within the timeframe as a precaution or just the ones that leak and smell?

Only the ones that fail the pressure & smoke test. But, only if you ask, been noifty by letter and your Corvette is in the mileage and/or time window.
10 years or 100,000 miles from in service date.

Yep, I just went through this with my '13 GS. Dealer was great - needed the left fuel tank module replaced. No charge.

I want to formally thank the Corvette forum for providing this information to C6 owners. I had to file a complaint with the attorney generals office to get
my dealer to address the fuel smell in my 2009 corvette. But I still have an issue with my fuel gauge it has not worked correctly since the fuel smell started.
My fuel gauge is almost always on empty then after driving a few miles it will register the amount of fuel in the tank and it then quickly drops to empty again.
I will fill up my tank and the gauge will display empty for the first few miles and then show full and again drop to empty. Its just so frustrating that a $57K car
cannot accurately display the amount of fuel in my gas tank. I mentioned this to my dealer and they of course stated its not covered by service bulletin.

Any suggestions...

You can try a can of Sea Foam or use Techron.

So filled up the tanks, when I got to a half tank I got the Fault Code: P0442. Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (Small leak).

Decided to keep going and it never cleared. I cleared it when I filled up the next time and it re-asserted once I hit that half tank range again... Going to take it back to dealership tomorrow. Anyone else experience this???

The fault code P0442 is typically for a bad gas cap, I had the same fault & fixed it by replacing the cap

Yep, and if your over that 10 years or 100,000 miles by a little your out of luck. I recently decided to investigated the fuel smell on my 2008 on the forum and learned a whole lot about what was going on. Having been a used car when I bought it, I never received a letter about the fix when I could have had GM repair it for free. All of that I found here on the forum including a copy of the letter, I never got, along with the service notice. Going to the dealer to see if my car was still covered started with the service adviser telling me it would be $150 to check it out before I could even finish asking about the problem. I showed him the service notice and asked if he would check to see if my car was covered. He looked up my Vin and said that in service date for my car was 7/2008 which meant I missed being covered by 5 months.
This car according to Car Fax only had 10 miles on it from 2008--2010, sold in May 2011 with 1985 miles, end of 2013 only had 9800 miles and when I bought it in Aug 2017 had 16945 miles. So now it has 20,000 miles, an GM is saying sorry not covered... Really??

Which Dealer did you take your Car to for the fuel pump replacement? Looks like we are in the same area. Looking for a dealer that has experience doing this service.
Any problems since you had this done?

Hey! I went to Moritz Chevrolet on Camp Bowie. End result was that the dealership took care of everything. Having said that it was a bit of a bumpy ride to get to the conclusion. They paid for a rental car due to a parts truck breaking down on them (had my car 4 days). Then the emission leak I had afterward they covered and paid for a rental again to fix a line that cracked when they did the first repair.

Default Got my tank out today

It seems I have the problem GM didn't think I had.
mine is an 06, NOT covered under the extended coverage.
Now that I have pictures I'll be filling complaints, NHTA to start.

Yup, your 06 is pasted the Time/Mileage requirement. Don't look for much help from GM or NHTSA.
