I took my 2010 GS to the dealer in Roseville CA this week for the fuel tank issue, 86K miles. It failed the smoke test, they replaced the pump / sending module and had it back to me in 2 days. I couldn't have received any better service. I'll update you after I top it off the first time, we'll see.... I also filed a report on the NHTSA site. The seriousness of this issue should be at a minimum a permanent TSB from Chevrolet or a Recall. It's only a matter of time before this problem kills someone. The service writer told me of a customer he had go and fill up her car and when she brought it back it was dripping gas on the ground. That could have ended very differently for her, she was lucky.

When I had mine fixed the chevy dealer I had it done at was telling me that GM covers the caddies for life of the problem. Don't understand why they don't cover the vettes the same.....like you said it's gonna end bad for some body some day, but I guess GM has the money to pay.

Also some C7's are starting to have this issue as in GM's infinite cheapness they still use the same setup.....

Glad your fix went ok.....

Did John L Sullivan's fix it for no-cost to you?

They sure did. I had it in there for the headlight fix last year, great experience both times. I made sure to ask for a service writer with experience on Corvette's, that made a big difference.

Default fuel pump

GM used the same primary(driver side) fuel pump from 2005-2008. So why are the 2005 - 2006 not included ?

Once your car is past the ten year mark or 100,000 miles gm won't cover this issue.

Well, it's been about 2 weeks since the dealer service and the tank has gone from 3/4 full to 1/4 and the gas gauge as of Saturday it's pegged on empty, looks like it's back to the dealer. On startup the gauge does the normal swing to full then back to empty but now its followed by a DIC notice of "Low Fuel" I'd guess it's either a bad connection or the sender is now bad. All fuses are good.

2010’s still covered by the recall? Mine has an ever so slight smell of gasoline at the driver side rear wheel well, but it is pretty weak and never gets to the interior....90,000 mi 2010 convertible

From the official document "Special Coverage Adjustment This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership. For vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after July 25, 2016, are covered by this special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to July 25, 2016, must be submitted to the Service Contract provider."

So, when was your vette's in service date?

I bought a 2010 Corvette last Saturday 2/29/20 out of state. Monday-Wednesday my garage was full of fumes. Found online about this fuel pump alert. Called dealership. they looked up my vin and I missed it by 1 week! I've contacted GM to see if they will help. They gave me a case number and told me to call the Customer Experience manager at the Chevy dealership near home. Guy is off today. I don't know if I'm wasting my time yet.

I would follow up with him, never know they may “MAY” make an exception for you. I missed it by two months or so if I remember right, but man missing by one week, that sucks.

I wish you the best and keep us posted, it may help another member in your position on his decision.

That sucks. 2k is not that bad, do you have a manual trans.? The cost to do this is cheaper for them as dealer/garage doesn’t have to drop trans.

Thanks for the update and good luck with the repairs.

Dealership said estimate was $1600 but that didn't include parts so no telling. Supposed to be an 11 hour job. They have had it 12 days. Can they charge for more overage labor hours if they don't know what they are doing? This is a Chevy dealership. I would think they would need to be close to that GM alert showing 11 labor hours it should take.
