Default Tsp 225/230 tsp 229/236 spins 230/234

I started a thread a while back about how i hated the new driveability of my top end cam. Car has no power and even compared to most larger cams is making less than the average big cam set up below 4k rpms. My eyes are now set on doing a cam swap. I know this may not be cost effective as this would be the 2nd time now doing a cam swap, but truth be told the car is just plain boring to drive now. Id really like a sort of road course style cam that has lots of low and mid range power yet makes decent numbers. Also maybe not too hard on the valvetrain parts.

The 3 that have really caught my attention are:

TSP 225/230 .617 .612 113
from my knowledge this cam gives power throughout the entire power band which is probably my top choice as that is really what im looking for.

TSP 229/236 .624 .615 113
this cam is pretty common and yields pretty high numbers while still keeping mid range power and a good amount of torque.

SPINMOSTER CAM 230/234 .612 .598 114
lots of hype on this cam, seems to keep a good amount of mid range power and has a decent peak power, this was actually the cam i was going to put in until the shop talked me out of it so i could with one of "their' custom cams

I currently am running a 229/244 .627 .627 114+5 (cam drives like sh#t)

Im looking for a low, mid, and even high band power. I loved the feeling of my vette before i put the cam in, i was making 402/441 with boltons, the car was awesome.

Anybody have any opinions on these 3 and willing to chime in id love to hear your thoughts/dyno sheets/numbers/driveability concerns/etc. I especially would like to hear from owners of the TSP 225/230 as it seems to be the rarest of the 3, yet to me would be the funnest to drive.

Car is a 2008 non-z51, manual trans, stage 3 clutch, full exhaust, ported heads, ported tb, ported intake, custom cam. 484hp/435tq

I have a lot of faith in Spin's recommendations. Chat with him, then decide.

I'm looking to do a cam swap and was recommended the following EPS cam because I didn't want to experience what you are (and I plan to visit the road course occasionally with it)

228/234 .6xx/.6xx on 112+3

I can't wait to order it and get it in the car myself.

Pat G could definitely spec something for you.

Wow, those specs are smack dab in the middle of the 3 im looking at. For road course or driving hard wouldnt you think something below .600/.600? I guess if it was just occasionally it wouldnt harm much. I just want lots of torque and low and mid range, having a good peak hp number would just be a bonus.

I'll be honest I left that to Pat. I just told him I wanted a cam that I could daily, take to the drag strip and the occasional hpde. The lift numbers were both .629. I also won't be touching the heads so I think that played a big part of the selection.

It seems like the logic behind road course cams is a good mid range. Thats probably what the driver will be at alot of the times. I need to consider that when i spec one for myself. I still think the TSP 225/230 will be the funnest on the street. At this point really ive dumped enough money in my ls3 vette that i should have just bought a Z06 really. But thats a whole other topic.
