Front or Back-Up Camera Install for a C6
I purchased a DNX-771 HD Kenwood radio. Has anyone installed a back-up camera or front camera, with this unit? Or has anyone, installed a camera period. If so, describe the installation process.

Might want to post this in the Audio/Electronics Forum. Lots of good info over there on Cam install.

Both will plug into the back of the deck.
On the reverse camera, going to tie the trigger wire for the reverse camera into the back up lights (positive side).
When you put the car into reverse, the back up lights come on to trigger the head unit to switch the display over to the back up camera.
As for mounting location of the back up camera, there are types that will mount to the top of the license plate bracket, as well as smaller units that you can mount to the flat above the licenses plate.
On the front camera, all depend what you want to use it for, which will dictate it mounting location.

As someone else mentioned, you can mount your front or rear camera anywhere. You pick your power source for the camera, and once the camera is powered up, it opens the video feed for the monitor, or your Kenwwod unit.
Most people use the back up lights as the back up camera power source.
I installed a front facing camera to protect the front end from curbs. I mounted it on top of the center air dam, using the existing bolt, just below the radiator, and I power it from my Fog lights, which I seldom use otherwise.
You can install a switch in the cockpit for the front camera if that's what you want to do.
Here is a pic of my front camera location, and where my monitor is located.
