"Don't Buy A 2013" Seriously?
As a long time C6 owner of 8 years, split between two fabulous 2007 Z51s, I long ago decided the C6 is all I want from a more 'modern' Corvette.
I am also blessed to have a wonderful '73 Stingray for that very different vintage and raw experience, so these two model years tick all my boxes.
For various locational reasons, I will be looking to trade up on the C6 to what I thought was the pinnacle of the evolution, a 2013 final production year.
Sadly, due to a leg injury, the ZR1 and ZO6 are off the table, so I'm looking at a Grand Sport and fully aware of C6 issues like the harmonic balancer, steering column lock etc, I thought any issues would have been dialled out by 2013, so why do I keep seeing this in searches?
"We recommend staying away from the 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2013 models."
What's the deal with the 2013 and why should I avoid it - I've never seen any 2013 specific reasons listed?

what searches?
I am aware only of the '05 being a bit of an odd duck IIRC. First model years of a new platform often are. I'd have no qualms with an 08-13. Solid cars.

sounds like a bad source, 12/13 is pretty much peak c6... maybe it was a typo and they meant 14s? but pretty much anything 06-13 is solid so sounds like they didnt know what they were talking about.

I did a quick google search of the line "We recommend staying away from the 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2013 models". I clicked on the link for "CoPilot for Car shopping" website. I saw that they don't specifically give any amplifying info besides saying that the transmissions are prone to failure.
I am no expert, but by all accounts, the 2012 and 2013 Grand Sports are the more desirable, in part to the greatly improved seats. Additionally, with the LS3 engine, it had been in production since 2008 at that point. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the 2013 would be the year of the most refinement/correction of issues for the C6. Without more info specifically about the 2013 model year, it's difficult to say what they are getting at.

Perhaps just 'scuttlebutt' and nothing to be concerned about.

Welcome to the world.of AI written articles. There is no basis for it, just an AI picked it up somewhere, and now other AI are repeating it.
It's no different than forum members here, except it's done by bots and not sheep...

Article itself sites:
"According to carcomplaints.com, here are the best years for the C6 Corvette:
2008 C6 Corvette.
2010 C6 Corvette.
2011 C6 Corvette.
2012 C6 Corvette"
I'm guessing this was an AI-generated article based on reviews on that website. Or a very low-effort article written for ad revenue.

Yea all that is BS in my opinion. I would not be afraid to purchase any of the C6's made between 2005 and 2013. The only thing that would cause me real pasue is knowing I had to fix the heads on any LS7 motor if they had not already been addressed.

The locking steering wheel difficulties were on the 2005 model year. However, I have 2 Corvette friends that have 2005's with absolutely no problem at all. I own a 2007 narrow body, and it's been a great car. Oh, by the way I bought it wrecked and rebuilt it myself. I KNOW everything about this car to say the least. It has an LS7 that's S/C'd, with a 6 speed (my preference) and it's a beast to say the least. Saying that to say this, I have a friend who had a 2013 GS that was a lemon. All kinds of problems, he even bought it with only 13,000 miles, on the clock, and you name it....it happened with that car. My only thought is that it was probably built on a Friday afternoon......you see where I am going. So, is the 2013 the best of the C6's? Yes, no, maybe so. If I had the cash at the time I would have purchased a "newer" C6, however, retirement limited my ability to do so. I love my car, and I won't sell it. Find what you like and can afford (personally, I refuse to have car payments!!! If I can't pay cash for a car, I won't buy it!!!), and just go for it. The Forum is here to help! This forum helped me save thousands during the rebuild of my car. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

2016 C6 of Year Finalist
According to the article "The biggest fault in these models of the C6 Corvette is in the transmission" but...it doesn't even say what transmission.
As others have said...BS.

This article has a few fact to support as opposed to 100% gibberish...
Good luck on your search and the 2013's are fine if you do your part on checking out the car.
