Been in enough pain to last me for awhile now, don't need to go looking for more.

couldn't think of a better way to slow down than to drive a BS GS...…………….

could come and leave your baser parked at my place, and take my baser convertible.......................

more than likely I could get there as well by hiding out in the back of the "Draggin' Wagon" if H1 also drops in.....................

Thanks Robert, that's a really nice offer.

In reality, I would never take the Miata on too long of road trip, I would take our Escape. The Miata is just too small for extended travel as far as I'm concerned.

The other thing I would have to do for sure is get runflats on it. Mazda in their wisdom didn't put runflats or a spare on the Miatas.

Don't know if the run flats would be needed................ did my trip to meet the Husker Boys last summer on NON run flats............ no spare............ took a portable air compressor, small jack and lots of prayers........

3800 miles in 8 days without any issues, and also didn't drive any later than 11:30PM the first day....................

offer still stands, even if the Escape is parked here in MI........................

Link to the "official" website below...…………. a lot of valuable links there too.

If the schedule for the Dream Cruise is still followed, it takes place on the third Saturday of August each year. Woodward begins seeing heavy cruise traffic the Sunday before and by Wednesday local police close down everything by about 10 P.M. While I can understand Randy not wanting to drive Lil' Chit across country, the cruise is still one of the biggest car events in the country. Reno's Hot August Nights is probably the Left Coast's equivalent. Get enough Hammers together and maybe Robert can pull a few strings and get you into the G.M. private museum in Sterling Heights. Sorry Robert, kinda putting you on the spot there. Anyhow, the Dream Cruise is a really big event and one that any car guy or gal needs to experience at least once.

Not a problem Scott..................... could use some contacts and probably get a tour of the GM Heritage Center set-up............ even if it would be tied into Larry Courtney's Corvettes on Woodward festivities........

also have Lingenfelter Collection open during that week for a few groups as well..................... really a lot to do, just may not be enough time to do it all....................so we would offer choices and prioritize as needed.................

Way too many options for road trips for me. 60th HS reunion next Summer in NW OH. Wanting to do the Eastern (East of Cleveland) portion of US rt 6 with a short jaunt into VT & upstate NY. Possibly going to Montreal and UP of MI through Sault St Marie down to Henry's museum/Greenfield Village. Taking US rt 20 from IN to WY and into CO on the way to AZ. Got a couple places to see in KS. Hoping to drive the Dragon while also seeing family in SC and NC I've already cruised Woodward back in the '60's, but an update is not out of the question either.
Almost forgot that any trip needs to be planned around the timing of available drag strips on the route, but that goes without saying for me.

Decisions, decisions.

Robert, Looking forward to tomorrow. If we're late don't give up on us. We old people don't seem to be able to keep track of time anymore.
As for the museum, Larry does some really great things, both for the Corvette community and the area in general. I'm sure he will have his annual parade from Pontiac to the food bank where Corvette owners will make significant donations. If something does materialize for the Heritage Center and you need assistance let me know and I'll try to be available to help however I can.

Thanks Scott! No worries about tomorrow. I will be there and will stay until 4:00PM.

Need to leave at 4:00 to get to a meeting not too far away. If it is "later" more towards lunch, perhaps we can go together and do that too.

I have extra chairs packed and ready if you would want to sit with the group too. All you need to bring is yourself, and the Mrs.!

You also have my number if needed too, and I have yours as well. Looking forward to a great time!

A Compassionate Husband.......................

A wife arrived home after a long shopping trip, and was horrified to find her husband in bed with a young, lovely thing.

Just as she was about to storm out of the house, her husband stopped her with these words: “Before you leave, I want you to hear how this all came about.

Driving home, I saw this young girl, looking poor and tired, I offered her a ride.

She was hungry, so I brought her home and fed her some of the roast you had forgotten about in the refrigerator.

Her shoes were worn out so I gave her a pair of your shoes you didn’t wear because they were out of style.

She was cold so I gave her that new birthday sweater you never wore even once because the color didn’t suit you.

Her slacks were worn out so I gave her a pair of yours that you don’t fit into anymore.

Then as she was about to leave the house, she paused and asked, ‘Is there anything else that your wife doesn’t use anymore?’

“And so, here we are!”

at least I know that there is one patron here interested in making this 2019 event a reality...…………….

teebee, even if it is a small number who may actually attend, you and Mrs. teebee are more than welcome to proceed, and Ms. 427 and I will make sure you can plan and enjoy your trip here...……..

still have a lot of time, so we can all work through this over the winter months, probably need to have everything in place by the end of April '19 though to ensure everyone would have access to accommodations, and any planned events.

Going to a smaller scale "all cool cars" show tomorrow in a nearby city, meeting Scott and his wife, and will have photos of the event here tomorrow night. Have another event right after the show, but that should be over by 7PM.

So, I took the Escape in to get the oil changed last week at our local Ford dealership.

I overheard one of the service advisers trying to upsell the guy next to me new lug nuts. He was telling him his lug nuts were starting to swell with the heat cycles and next time they may not be able to get the lugs off to rotate the tires. Quoted him like $65.00, the guy declined. That was a first for me.

I have heard a lot of BS laid on people at dealerships but the lug nuts swelling and needing replacing makes the top of the list!

I warned my wife if they tried to tell me that I will start laughing at them and call them out on it. Since the Escape only has 9k miles on it, they didn't try that one on me. It really kind of disappointed me because I have always had good luck and somewhat trusted them.

I seem to remember hearing something like that a while ago. What I can't remember is whether it was true...
Oops, I shoulda searched first. There is a lawsuit against Ford for that very issue. They are a two piece lug nut (steel and chrome cap) and do, indeed, swell. The affected vehicles include Escape.
Damn, the LSDHL drives an Escape.
