Default 2006 3LT Coupe vs 2015 2SS/1LE

I own a 2006 3LT Lemans Blue coupe. Has 11,400 miles. Love the car, but recently diagnosed with degenerative back disease. Very difficult for me to take long trips over a hundred miles in my Vette.

I drove my son's 2014 2LT Camaro and was impressed with the ride. Looked at a local dealer's 2015 2SS 1LE Ashen Gray. The car is a six speed manual, but has RECARO seats. Said they will sell for USAA pricing of $42,000 which includes $1,000 rebate and $750 USAA incentive. They will give me $28,000 for trade in value. Leaves $14,000 plus tax difference.

Very few 1LE Camaros within 200 miles of my location. Those I find are priced in 45,000 to 46,000 range. Of course, new Camaro comes with three year warranty where I currently have none. Question if replacing Vette with Camaro 1LE is reasonable solution. Appreciate and kind input.

get those seats installed into the vette. Camaro's are heavy.

What sort of degenerative back disease? I have degenerative disc disease in three vertebrae, stenosis, and spondylithesis (not sure about the spelling of that). Most people with such disc disease have trouble sitting for long periods; I'm the opposite ... can sit all day, but can't stand for too long, and have trouble walking more than a couple hundred yards without pretty severe pain.

I can drive my Vette for long periods, which is fortunate. If you have trouble sitting in the Vette, it seems to me you'd have the same trouble in any other car, especially a sporty one like a Camaro. Did you ride in your son's Camaro for a long distance?

I'm rambling, I know ... but it seems to me that you'd just be going from one issue to another similar issue. A positive is that you'd have a warranty, but it would also cost $15K.

Perhaps you'd be better off with something that rides a little softer? Of course, you know how your back reacts to certain situations, and I don't, but I can certainly empathize to a greater degree than most.

Default Keep The Vette

Keep the Vette, take the 15000 and buy your self a late model Caddy DTS for long drives. Great ride and good gas mileage. MPG close to what the Vette gets on the road.
