Default Limp mode, now no Comp Mode???

Went to dinner and as we were leaving I got the ever popular "reduced engine power" "service traction system" issue. I limped the car home, disconnected the battery for a few minutes and the. Reconnected. Check engine light is off and I seem to have full power again (for now at least) BUT now I cannot engage Competitive Driving Mode. It will only turn traction control on or off.

Any ideas or suggestions?

I would think that the car will not allow comp mode for a few start cycles after a limp home mode problem. This probably makes sense as they want the nannies on for a while until the computer is more sure that the problem has been fixed.

Even with CEL off, should be a stored code to tell you if significant event. Local dealer or auto parts store can pull same for you and give you some insight as to what may be the issue.

Yeah, I would have the code pulled. Chances are if it did it once, it will do it again. Good luck.

Disconnecting the battery does nothing on a C6 to clear codes. That is the way you cleared codes on a C4 but that was 30 years ago.

You still have codes set and that is what is causing the car to say you still have problems. Get a $25 code reader to see what the issue(s) are and fix them. Reset the codes and all should work again.

Try recalibrating your TPMS. Usually that resolved it.

^^^I'd look into that. As per the owner's manual, if there is any malfunction or "low pressure" reading in the TPMS, then comp mode will be unavailable.

After disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, the CEL went off, everything went back to normal.

Took it to the auto parts store, no codes. Optima yellow top checks out fine, alternator is fine.

Drove 300 miles since with zero problems. I drove through a large puddle and I am thinking that a sensor or pig tail got a little wet.
