Questions For C6 Convertible Owners
How many of you have a wind break installed?
If you do have one, what kind do you have and does it really make a difference in the top down driving experience?
Oh, and........
I don't have a wind break, but I'm seriously considering the one below:
The emblems below are available.
Since my car is a 2013 Grand Sport, I'm thinking of going for the 60th anniversary emblem.
Cost is $459.99 before shipping and handling.
Not overly costly, but costly enough to consider whether it's worth it before ordering one.
Just trying to glean some experience from those who have one.
NOTE:
I'm aware of cheaper options such as the one below:
$425.95 less shipping and handling
Or an even cheaper option:
$49.95 less shipping and handling.
I'm really seeking honest advice here. Thank you!!!

I have the smoked glass Wind Restrictor, with the Corvette logo. For me it was a good investment, now the wife will go in the car with the top down. The nice thing about it, is that it stays in the car all the time and you do not have to remove it. It does not interfere with the operation of the top.
While driving their is a noticeable difference with the noise and wind being cut down so you could actually have a conversation with someone. When you are on the highway raise the windows and you wouldn't believe the difference from before you had it. It is a little pricey, but for me it was worth it.
The Wind Restrictor is well built and installation was easy, it took about an hour.
Also I had the cheaper option you show and it was a waste of money.....
Good luck with your choice,
Mark

I guess that eliminates the $49.99 option

I went so far as to put a piece of foam pipe insulation on the bottom to block more wind, but it was the side wind that bothered me most.
As for the cheapie, back in the days of our Miata, my wife made a cover, if you will, that went over the tops of each seat, and stretched between the seats...sorta like the cheapie you show. It worked as well as anything. Good luck and report you experience.

I had the GM OEM windbreaker in my '05 and it was a waste of money, in my opinion...unless I drove with the windows up .

I'm with you on driving a Vert with the windows up. It drives me bananas to see people doing that as I think it defeats the purpose of driving an open-air vehicle.
However, I'm asking the questions I'm asking to temper functionality/practicality with aesthetics.
I like the idea of the smoked wind break and when my wife is in the car with the top down on the highway and I want to hear what she is saying or I get a phone call on the Bluetooth while I'm driving, I do let the windows up temporarily, but at speed, that doesn't help much and I think a wind break would be helpful for times like that.
My first Vette was a Mag Red C5 Vert, but I traded it away before I got to the point of considering a wind break.
Taking what Thorn811 said into consideration, I think the cheap option might be out for me. This is a Vette. I don't think cheaping-out is the way to go.

I'm completely happy with the top down and no wind screen. It seems very NON turbulent in the C6.
I was thinking I was going to have to get one but I saved $470.
(and I'm a top down all the time guy)

That said, the only time I have any trouble is when I want to talk on the phone with the top down or to my passenger (at times, like on the freeway).
I suppose my desire is more for the aesthetic than the practical. I'm just trying to validate the practical part to justify the aesthetic

This would be my answer also. It just doesn't seem turbulent to me. And like Mike, I am a top down all the time guy. My top has not been up since the latter part of April. I can wear a baseball cap comfortably at 85 mph on the highway...good enough for me. I don't talk on the phone when I have the top down and I can't see that a deflector would change that. At slow speeds in the city, it doesn't make a difference anyway since there isn't much airflow to deflect. Also, I like the completely open feel of the Vert...a deflector makes it seem more enclosed.
Thank you for expanding on your previous post.
I think the tipping point for me will be the wife and how it would look on my car.
Pic of car below:
Not the best pic of my car. I have a broken right foot (in cast w/bone stimulator) and have yet to drive it this summer. Still on a batter tender in the garage

Just a side note/question about visors
Is it me or are those visors badly positioned compared to other verts. I had a Miata for years before Vettes and I cant find a good position for them where they don't block my vision....just me?

Nope. I didn't buy a convertible to skip the wind. If I wanted that, I would have bought a coupe with a removable top. If it's chilly, I'll put the windows up and turn the heat on.
No windbreak for me.
To be honest here, my wife DID buy the $49.99 one for me but it doesn't fit in the 427. It doesn't work on the kind of seat clips in the back of the seat. I have lift up handles there, not little things that stick out and that's how it hooks on. Plus it didn't fit behind the seats and in front of the waterfall. So pass on that one.
