Default Bad clutch smell

OK, went to the drag strip yesterday. I’m a novice at legal drag racing so any suggestions will help, CONSTRUTIVE CRITICISM only. I made a pas, 1/8 mile , launched ok, hit 2nd and got a kittle sideways then nannies kicked in. I was so shaken I missed 3rd gear and finished at 9.566. 2nd pass, I let about 5lbs of air in my tires I got a bad reaction time, stayed straight in 2nd but missed 3rd again,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I won’t go into details on my time. But!!!!!!!! It smelled like my clutched was burned up, it was so bad I pulled out of the pits and into the parking lot and didn’t make another pass. I have a 427 2013 Anniversary Edition, hopped to 630hp at the crank,. Is this clutch smell normal, if not can anyone make a guess at what I did wrong? I only have about 13,000 miles on it. I think the 427’s have a stronger clutch than a standard clutch. Thoughts??? Am I in the wrong section to be in?

at only 13,000 miles? I bought the car with less than 3,000 miles so I know it hasn’t been driven hard. My little excursion to the drag strip yesterday was its first outing, really?? I thought those Z06 clutches were tougher than that, damn.

And you wonder why I just swapped my clutch!

It was ok stock, but after it came back from DRM, nope. Not a chance. You can check it out tomorrow.

usually people do, we are bringing potato salad. Remember this is the Corvette club not the Cruisers.

Yea, the general rule of thumb from what I've seen for the C6 is when you get above 500 rwhp, you need to have a new clutch ready for your future $$s.

The Z06 clutch is the "standard" for later LS3's and Z06/427's.

Some upgrade to the ZR1 twin disk setup, but most go with aftermarket. Look in the Tech and forced induction section, lots of good clutch info there.

I enjoyed reading your review on your clutch from stock to the new setup. I learned a little bit about clutches also. My C6 has the A6 transmission so I don't have a clutch, but I do miss being able to shift and work a clutch. The traffic is bad where I live and that's the main reason I went with the A6.
