Default ZHZ Hertz Owners a Few Questions

If you own a Hertz 08 or 09 car how many problems have you had with it?

How many miles were on it when you bought it?

Has the car been a money pit?

I am looking at a 2014 Hertz Edition only 75 built the car has 13,000 miles and looks very good. I can't find any paint work , there are no curb wheels, car has a clean Carfax and was only in service 11 months.

I know the C6 editions were in service a couple of years before they sold them off. Most had 30-50K miles when they came back.

There was a lady on here who sold her Hertz Corvette about a year ago with 278,000 miles on it. Somebody here will remember her name. It was her Dailey driver and she loved it. I would think a rental Corvette has seen a lot of abuse but you never know. Could have also been a Hertz Executive driving it.

Normally I would say run far away from any "program" or rental car. However, in the case of a Corvette, which is probably $250-$300 per day to rent, I am guessing the people who are renting them are doing so for the enjoyment and not to beat on the car. I could be wrong but if the car looks and drives well and it's a good deal, I would consider it.

Default ZHZ Hertz Owners a Few Questions

As far as the Corvette rental not being abused, is not exactly correct. Besides the ones that kept turning up on the internet, wrecked, flooded in the surf at a beach, I happen to know someone that had a weekend booked for a HPDE at Daytona and his normal drive was not ready, so he went to the airport and rented one. Loaded it in his trailer and beat it for three day at Daytona. The following year when he arrived with his Z06, there were 4 of Hertz cars there.

I had a Corvette ZHZ in Vegas in 2010 and got it for around $110 OTD with 200miles and 24hrs. Not as expensive as you might think

I have an 08 ZHZ. I bought it in November 2014. I am the 3rd owner of the car. The 2nd owner traded for 14 C7. It had 89k miles on it when I bought it now at 101700 miles and still runs great. I have replaced 2 front tires I tpms sensor and will replace another when I replace the tire and replaced the battery in January. Everything works good no problems. Car Fax had it in service for 1 year as a rental. did not show any problems except for the door switch replaced 2 times.

Default ZHZ history

I currently own ZHZ #1 of the 500 made in 08. I bought it in 2012 with 66k miles I'm trying to figure out if it was one of the 30 that were never rented. I've talked to GM and hertz. Hertz deletes the vin numbers from the computers when they sell a car so they can't tell me if it was ever in their system. I know it is #1 from this page.

Any info you can give me I would appreciate.

Her handle is "janicept" Ed. (https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...rlotte-nc.html)

I also can't imagine what percent of ZHZ owners are on CF or even see the threads.

You and probably the majority of the population that rents a sports car. You rent it for the experience, everyone takes advantage of that.

If you have the car fax for the car check the mileage it may give you a clue if was a rental or executive car

I don't have the car fax. Seems like the mileage is too low to be rented but you never know. I like to know the vin numbers to the zhz's that were never rented.

Mine had 89 k on it when I bought it a year ago but it was owned by an active duty officer so it may be higher than others as their may be alot of trips on it to home from the base so 66k may be in line with a rental but without hertz giving you the info I dont have a clue where you could get that info

I have #212. It started in Boston, went to Jacksonville, FL, and I bought it early in 2012 with 32k miles on it. It left the Hertz fleet after about 18 months, at 26k miles.

Mine was rented less than those from warmer climates by all appearances, and has generally been a good car. I've had a number of Shelby cars from the 1960s, and remembered the GT350H and how, before too long, it was more sought after than the regular GT350. So I keep the miles low.

The second owner was a gentleman in his 70s who had always wanted a Corvette, and this was it. He had it a couple of years, then bought a Mercedes and sold this. I can relate - I drive a big BMW for my daily driver - easier for an older bloke to get in and out of.

Based on the mileage when you got it, I'd say it was probably a fleet rental. It would depend on where it was, and how much any intermediate owners drove it. A CarFax or AutoCheck will help with that. I have the AutoCheck from when I bought mine, which is good reference. The non-rentals I've seen listed for sale were very low mileage.

I'd expect that, if the car is maintained in good condition, in the next 4-5 years you may see them selling for more than their retail counterparts in comparable condition. But I've been wrong before.

I've always wanted a vette and in 2009 I rented a ZHZ while I was in Vegas. Took it west of town. Amazing experience. I didn't get my first vette until Dec. 26th, 2013 but that day back in July 2009 pretty much set the course.

Default 2009 Hertz

There is a ZHZ for sale in that I'm looking at. It's #133 of 500. I can pick it up for $23,500. It has 84,500 miles of which 40,000 are from its two years as a rental. I'm seriously considering purchasing it. My other corvette is a 1997 C5, Torch Red. Thanks, Michelle

I have a ZHZ #436. It had 89k miles on it when I bought 2 1/2 years ago. My price was $20k I think the asking price is a little high on the car and with the miles. I now have 125k miles but have had the harmonic balancer replaced, at my cost, check that and also had the fuel leak that was repaired by GM when they extended the warranty for this to 10 years or 120k for this problem, great car enjoy it every day
