2006 CD DVD NAV not recognizing discs
I have a 2006 Convertible with factory NAV it will not play CD's or DVD/Map DVD. It states on the NAV screen when a CD is put in that there is no disc. After I put the map DVD in it says insert a map DVD.
I seen past threads about this but none have helped. I installed a cd/DVD cleaner still does not work. Both CD and DVD's are accepted into their slots but it does not play them or recognize them. I am thinking about disconnecting then reconnecting the battery is that something that might help?

With the engine running and the window down, close the car door. Raise the window and hold the up switch an extra 3 seconds. Release. Without lowering the window, hold the up switch again for 3 seconds. Release. Done. Don't forget the other window.
This will need to be done to both windows every time the car battery is disconnected, then reconnected.

If it was only one of the two drives that was not seeing the disc, I would expect it to be dirt on the laser lens, but it is very unlikely that both drives would get that dirty at the same time. Either disconnecting the battery or pulling the radio fuse for a while would be a good thing to try. If this doesn't work though, it may just need repair.
