Default Rims will not fit from Z06 brakes

I have a 2008 base corvette that has the upgraded Z06 brakes. I bought some Replica Z06 style rims that have the base specs. These rims will not fit on the car, yet the Gumby rims fit on the car. I need help trying to figure out what I can fit on the car.

Can you put hub centric wheel spacers to bring out the wheels slightly and clear the Z06 brakes? Hub centric wheel spacers, unlike wheel spacers, distributes the weight of the vehicle on the axle hub not the lugs. This will prevent vibration and the lug nuts from becoming damaged when hitting pot holes.

I'm assuming the problem is on the front? Some are comfortable running wheel spacers on a permanent basis, but I am not one of those people.

One solution is to find a take-off set of *real*, OEM GM Z06 rims to use on the front, and you're good to go.

(Base model sized front tires and OEM Z06 rims work on the front -- I ran that combo on my 2006 widebody for years. )

Forgestar makes custom sizing wheels that can clear the brakes, lots of fitment style and finish options.. and very affordable pricing. not as affordable as replicas, but these are more performance oriented.

you could probably get away with just adding a 5mm spacer though on the ones you got. any larger then that and you should be looking at spacers that have extended wheel studs.

I heard that spacers are bad on the vettes. It hits on the front tires and the back tires. So it looks like I need to get some new rims. I like the look of the Z06 rims. Anybody have any good suggestions that will fit?

Go to the "parts for sale/wanted" section of this forum. There are usually stock rims for sale there. There was a set of ZR1 rims on there this morning. You can look at what is there and also post a "want to buy" thread.

Fronts are fine, but you're right about the rears... time for a widebooty upgrade!

Anybody know what size hub centric spacer is needed to clear front Z06 calipers on a base C6? I have Z06 "Styled" wheels that were made to fit a base C6. Rears are fine, I have wide booty mod and Z06 wheels.

Thanks,

Bob

Go to AceAlloyWheels.com. They have a wheel called Ace Slick that is design to fit the Z06 brakes and they are not very expensive.

The front wheels are 18x9.5 and the rear wheels are 19x11. They fit the narrow body C6 just fine and come in several finishes.

You might want to call them to make sure of the offset you will need on the rear wheels as they offer 2 offsets on the 19x11 wheels.

Here is mine with those wheels.

Same wheels after installing Z06 brakes.

1/4" spacers will clear your brakes. You will need to replace your wheel studs with longer ones or opt for extended thread lug nuts, which is the route I took.
I've been running spacers for about 6 months with ZERO issues. I have a base but I used the spacers to push the wheels out some, they still tuck but fill up the wheel well better.

The TSW Nurburgring wheels will clear, we test fitted them them on a Grand Sport while my 2008 C6 was at a shop, they use the Z06 brakes. I think there is a thread on those wheels on the second or third page. worth a look.

What offsets do you have on these wheels as I have a Base C6 Vert that I just put Z06 brakes on and am using 8mm spacers? I called Ace and they mentioned front 18x9.5 offset 53 and rear 19x11 offset 73. Is that what you bought and do you see any inside or outside clearance issues? Did you change tire sizes?

That's what I had. No issues or clearance problems and I used OEM tires. 245 front, 285 rear.

This is a good idea but the larger tire will do damage to the rear quarters its an inherent situation with Z06'S and the GS. Larger splash guards and some cleartastic has helped me. But I had to get the quarters redone

I just googled "C6 Corvette crossed flag decals" and found some on Ebay. Very cheap price as I remember.

There are various sizes so make sure you get a size that fits. I'm thinking mine were around 2 1/8".

I went to America's Tire and spoke to a person that seemed knowledgeable and he called and spoke to someone at Ace and he was told that the wheels would not fit Z06 brakes, Sooo I would like to recap what your setup is.

Ace Slick Wheels. Fronts 18x9.5 offset 53mm, Rears 19x11 offset 73mm. They are on a base C6 with Z06 Calipers AND you are NOT using any wheel spacers.

Also is there a name and phone number where you bought your wheels.

THANK YOU
