Default Just renewed my Sirius/XM for another year

To set the stage ... I have three vehicles with Sirius/XM. Two of them, the Vette and the Caddy, are due now. The Subaru is due next month.

Got the email with the renewal notice and for just the Vette and the Caddy the total was about $550. Assuming the Subaru will be about the same as the Vette, it would be another $200+ next month, so the total for the year would be about $750 and change.

I called and talked to the Cancellation guy, and to make a long story short, I'm getting all 3, with their "Select" plan, for $280.

So by calling and threatening to cancel I saved almost $500/year over their regular billed price.

It pays to call and negotiate, as we all know by now. Some of you may do better than I did.

Between the amount of music you can get on a thumb drive, cell phone, and the good old free radio waves, that's $280 too much for me.

But if you're happy with it and feel it's worth it, that's all that matters.

To each is own...I have had 3 radios active since 2003. I pay about $6/month for each and find it inexpensive for what it offers. XM is not "all" about music...CNN, CNBC, traffic/weather, live streaming sports, etc., etc., etc..

I use it primarily for college football games. We have season tickets to my school's games, and I listen to other SEC games on the way to and from our game. Otherwise I occasionally listen to music. It's not a huge expense, but if it wasn't for the games, I wouldn't even subscribe.

Wasn't trying to knock you, just admitting I'm cheap.

We all spend our money on things that have value to us personally.

I got off that merry - go - round this year. When I didn't except their final offer and the agent realized I was a no sale he got downright nasty. Said he was going to send me a bill for $2.20 . He wanted my CC for that . I said "no sir Send me a paper bill". He said there's a $2.00 change for the invoice. I said "no there's not. I said "you don't seem to understand You have a product I don't want Im done , What part of Im done don't you understand?" he said" have a good day sir" . hung up and that was 3 months ago. Still haven't gotten the bill. My XM went off on exactly the time I signed up for it but 5 months later. Computer driven I suppose.

I don't really pay much attention to them any more but seems like every vehicle I own, I get the standard$20-25 per five or six month offers every few weeks....I stream almost everything thru slacker, Pandora or iTunes.... And have a ton of live shows on my phone.....maybe flip on some talk radio once in a while.....
The programming for the few xm channels I enjoy gets so monotonous..... Same rotation for weeks at a time, that I found myself not using it.....

I have two lifetime subscriptions. One being unused currently and one I transferred to my new to me Corvette ($75 charge to transfer).
The 3rd subscription is in the wife's Honda. And I just renewed that one for around $8 a month for a year.
I have been with Sirius/XM since 2004. I couldn't live without it.

I've got it in my Cadillac and I have a home unit that I can either use with the home system or in a boom box. I let it expire in the Vette. I absolutely hate the years renewal hassle. Normally get a good deal but I'm getting tired of fighting them.

They just sent me a cheaper offer. Less than $4/mo.

Activate a Select subscription and pay $19.99 for your first 5 months,

XM just sent me a "6 months for $20" deal, so I painstakingly renewed for 6 months, and will cancel after that, if they don't renew it for the same amount.

I don't drive my Vette enough to be subscribed. But as it has been said I didn't listen to it enough in my truck to justify the $161 renewal (that's with travel link which I do use). I called, and told the lady I wanted to cancel because I don't use it. She was very nice, and ask if I would like it for $99. I told her no, but wanted the travel link. Done, and done. I've never had any trouble with their customer service. Now the Wifey's trying to decide if she wants to keep hers.

I am preparing for a road trip in the Vette, and wouldn't mind them sending me a 25 buck offer. We'll see.
