Default First Drive On The Dragon! (Pics)

Friday I took my first drive on The Dragon. What a great experience! Looking forward to driving some of the other great roads in the area.

Question, is it a drive that you can test your abilities a little or more a drive for pleasure ??
Seems lots of other cars right around you huh?? Beautiful though, just wondering. What do they charge for the photos, plenty I bet.
Thanks

Camera perspective makes them look closer. I was leading a caravan of three other Corvettes from our club. Also photos do not provide a sense of the speed. Definitely a challenging drive and not a leisurely cruise. However you can at times get stuck behind slower moving traffic. Best to make the drive during the week. There are several videos of the drive posted on this forum and the C7 forum that provide a better feel for the experience. Photos were around $5 each.

The answer is NO. The speed limit was lowered in the early 90's to 30. There are always cars and bikes either coming at you or trying to pass you. It is better to drive thru the week but its still not a place to "test the limits". That's not to say that some don't try, with good and bad results. LEO's do patrol but there are just way to many things that can go wrong. Blind curves, vehicles crossing over the center line, bikes passing vehicles on a double yellow, etc... Hurting yourself or your car is one thing. Hurting someone else is just plain irresponsible.

Enjoy the beautiful drive. If you want a HPDE go to a track. There are also plenty of roads in that area that are as beautiful as 129. Go check them out as well.

P.S.
It is a challenging drive. You have to be on your toes. I've done it on the bike and in the Vette. In either case you as the driver just don't have the time to relax. But it is a beautiful drive!
