Short of it is that I was at a stop light, I see a car in rear view that is obviously not going to stop, I brace for impact, but at last minute he decides to swerve and hit car in lane next to me on the right. He still clips my rear end and manages to destroy my wheel and make the car inoperable. Wheels will not spin. After all is said and done, the car who hit me was running from the police because of unpaid tickets. He actually tried to run on foot after he hit us, and so did the passenger. They were both caught soon after, driver was definitely arrested and is siting in jail right now. I caught it all on dashcam and handed it to the police. He doesn't stand a chance and has a heavy debt to pay to society I'm hoping.

Car is being towed this morning to a Chevy dealer for repairs. I had 2 other shops in mind, but first choice (Stuart's Paint and Body) didn't have any time to even look at it till 2 weeks from now...and second one (The Body Shop in Garland) was already mentioning aftermarket parts...but I only want OEM...so Chevy dealer it is.

I'm hoping it goes without saying to insurance that I'll be expecting some money for lost vehicle value since resale will be diminished, but I'll keep you guys posted about that. I'm very sad right now. My baby is hurt and I won't be able to drive it for god knows how long while it's getting fixed up.

It could have been a LOT worse. I'm thankful I walked away with no injuiries..,not even a scratch.

What a scumbag! Risking killing someone over unpaid tickets! I'm glad they were caught and you are ok. That damage is bad but could have been a lot worse. A good shop will have her good as new.

Wow! Glad you're OK.

The good news is that a good body shop will make it like new, and all you'll have left is an amazing story to tell!

Wow, the passenger casually gets out and then appears to just stand there like he was a bystander.

i have a feeling that damage is alot worse than it looks. i don't know much about the frame of a corvette, but with the wheel being in that direction, is it possible that their is frame damage to your car?

I really have no idea what kind of damage it sustained. I sincerely hope it isn't that serious and they can get it back to me soon. I miss driving my Vette already

Glad you are ok. But, it sure is ridiculous to see this kind of stuff. My son is LEO, and sees this way too often down here. Breaks my supersonic blue heart, sir. Here's to a speedy and excellent repair...

Passenger was older white fellow. Driver was young 20 something ish either light skinned black fellow or possibly puerto rican/dominican...mixed...something along those lines. That's the description I gave to the officer that took my report.

My best advice is to pray that it is a total loss.

I dunno man, I kind of disagree there. On one hand, yes I'd like it if it never happened and I could get a replacement vehicle that's never had an accident. On the other hand, I've put mods into the car which I would want to remove. Supercharger, exhaust, painted spoiler and halo, front tow hook, just put in new battery and new high output alternator, and lots of little stuff on the inside. I've got a good 15K+ worth of add-ons..some of which I would lose just on labor.

And what will insurance say when they don't have a complete engine, missing exhaust, etc? Just seems like a big hassle. I'd rather get my car back fixed I'm thinking.

I'm with you wanting my car back (not being totaled) after having mods installed that ins. won't cover, diminished value is certainly going to be an issue here, hopefully you get the amount you deserve, a good dealer shop will restore it as it was before, the big thing is you were not injured. it will be tough being without your ride for who knows how long...stay strong.

Experience: Not at fault, $15,000+ in damages, $5000 in Diminished Value claim, and now as beautiful as the day I got her brand new with 25 miles. But, with no re-sale value at all.

No I was not driving in the snow. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny, Saturday March 15, 2014 at approximately 11:30 AM. It snowed on Sunday Night before the dealership could get her inside.
