Default Battery Gas Vent Tube

I am replacing the battery on my 2008 6.2 base and the battery is mounted under the hood.

Do I need a vent tube for the battery if the battery is not mounted in the cabin.

When people talk about needing a vent tube, they are referring to Z06, ZR1, and manual coupe Grandsport models that have the battery in the right rear cubby hole in the hatch area.

Thanks that certainly makes sense. It causes me to give thought however to our friends that have that situation. It seems to me that the gases potentially leaking into the cabin with or without the vent tube could do considerable damage to the interior given the caustic nature of the battery gases. I was just thinking out loud............I am sure that is not an original thought and probably has been well discussed.
