I installed a Kenwood HD radio with Nav and kept my standard factory speakers for a couple years. It didn't really improve the sound much over the OEM radio, but I had a bunch of other features ... Bluetooth, iPod capability, USB, Nav, etc.
A few months ago I replaced all the speakers and added a 5-channel amp and a sub. The difference in sound is amazing.
yes mine has the bose.. I want to upgrade the head unit first then I will do other componets as time and money let me.
I'm sure someone else will chime in soon with an answer for Bose systems. It may be no different ... I just do not know. Pretty sure the speaker impedance is different from standard speakers.

Yes I have Bose and Kenwood system, sounds great.
What I would recommend if you are going to do it, do it right, and buy the Sirius receiver if you ever want to satellite radio. I did it, and love satellite radio.
