Default WOW! Yellow Z

My local dealership just put out a 2006 Z06, yellow/blk with only 1449 miles. He put $38,995 on it. MInt. Deal or not? He is a buddy but I have not had time to call and ask him about it.

Wow, that is a really good starting price for a dealer, you will need to throw in a couple grand for the heads and new tires.

Great price but I would like to know the history of the car. Owner, documentation, service records and previous damage.

Happy New Year!

Frankly Mike, I don't know why some folks feel this is such a great price?

According to the KBB it's an average fair price for that car.

If you could buy it for say,...$35k, that would be a great price.

I'd pass. 41k after taxes and fees for a 2006?

I have a 2011GS that is modded to my taste and am very happy with it. I would not go back five years to drive a Z06. I threw this out there in case any one might be looking. It looks mint and a 9-10 year old car with less than 1500 miles is amazing. I am sure there is some flex in the price. This is a great dealership. The owner and I have been friends for over twenty years. My stepson is a former tech and now service writer there. If anyone is interested in dealer info please pm me. The vin is.....

& the buy a GS crowd is here

If the car has a clean title, hasn't been in any accidents and doesn't have any real flaws that's not a bad starting point. You know they can do better on the price so make an offer and see what happens.

I almost bought a 2006 Z06 with 33,000 it had headers and cam CAI and tune. But I could hear the lifters while test driving and heard of the DREADED valve dropping destruction. The owner would not give me a straight answer about where the heads were worked on or even if they had been. If you get this car be prepared to pull the heads. If you do not you could be in for a $15,000-$20,000 repair.

Default NADA Guide values,,,,

Rough > $33075

Trade-InAverage > $35250

Trade-InClean > $37050

Clean Retail on Lot Price > $40125

The BIG plus is for the super low mileage > added $12000 to the figures posted above.

Average driven less then 150 miles a year, wouldn't that bother anyone? Car really hasn't even been broken in and it obviously has sat for A LOT of it's life, I just don't know...is there such a thing as too good of a deal?

No well maintained Z06s with this low mileage are going for under $35k from what I have seen...

The LS7 is known for a noisy valvetrain. That does not mean it's got a problem.

If the car has a clean sheet with the low miles and being #20 of a few thousand C6 Z06' I would by this car in a heartbeat at that price especially if I was a collector.

I don't get those people. Why buy a car that wishes it was a Z06 instead of an actual Z06?

No one ever buys a Z and wishes they'd gotten the GS.

...and the GS hater crowd as well I see.

It's been over 24 hours since a GS vs Z06 jihad was started on the forum, so I guess it is time. Yay.

As the initiator of this thread I did not intend to start any controversy or battle between GS and Z06 fans. Personally I own a 2011GS and am happy with it. I did not buy a Z for two reasons. #1 was that I wanted an automatic. At 64 years I have done my share of shifting and wanted to just drive and relax. #2 was that most low mile Z's were out of my price range. Were I looking for a car right now I might just have considered this one. I am sure that someone is going to own it very soon and they will probably be very happy. as I said before this dealer is a friend of mine and they are not known for gouging. I am sure that he would flex a bit or throw in new tires or something. I saw the car last week when I was at the dealership getting something done to mine. Appearance wise it is 100%. The mileage is what I was impressed with and now to see that it is #20 of the first year of C6/Z06 production just makes it better. For myself I see no advantage to trading back from a 2011 to an 06 to get that engine. I have spent thousands in mods to get my car where I am satisfied (no performance mods) and if I wanted it faster could just add a s/c.
