Need help deciding on tires
As title states. Car is an 05 cammed a4. Car makes 420+rwhp. Also has a 3200 stalol converter. I'm looking for a tire that will hook up decent from stop light to stop light, but that will last a decent amount of time. Car currently has falken f452s on from previous owner. Needless to say if under 55mph they are useless. Any help is appreciated

Safety Car
Bridgestone Potenza Pole Positions would not spin with 425 rwhp/rwtq on my 6 speed GS. I also got over 30k out of them. Z06 owners use them, that's what got me to try them.
I strayed to Coopers, and they spin thru 3rd.....
Here was the thread from the Z06 guys that got me to try the Bridgestones:

You can't beat the performance per dollar with Nitto Invo's.
Super sports if you don't mind spending the extra money. I have run both and only replace with nittos now. I get over 30k with them and a full set of 285/345 last cost me $1,018 out the door at discount tire compared to over $1,500 for the michelins. The negligible difference in performance was not enough to justify the extra $500 to me

Yeah trying to avoid full on drag radials. The invos and nt05 have been the 2 I've been contemplating as I'm more interested in stop light to stop light. I'd like for it to hook in a straight line.

Nitto NT05 tires on the rear hook up real good.
Of course, any soft rubber tires are going to have a low Wear Rating. The UTQG on the NT05 is only 200.

Have a couple buddy's that say the nt05 will not hook that in order to get the straight line hook I need nt05r. Any experience between the 2? Also any I'll effects going from 285/35/19 to a 305/35/19?

NT05r are drag radials and will not be a practical choice for the street. Use this great tool to see how changing tires affects your car. Be sure to change the settings for your application.

I'm not into burnouts and strong starts but the few I have done, the Nitto Invo seems to hook real well for a street tire, doesn't go up in smoke so far. But again I have no comparison

I did indeed. Just wasnt sure if you were getting the tractions off the line. So guess that is how I should have put it. What kind of off-the line traction do you get with the nt05? I see you say they hook up good but if they are hooking after 40mph then I want something that I can stall my car to flash point on the converter and it hold best it can. I know that getting a tire to hook on the street from dead stop with a converter flash will be difficult so just looking for the tire that will spin the least per say.
