New to me 08 Vette
I am about to purchase a 2008 3LT Convertible with 35,000 miles.
The purchase price is $31,500. It's in pristine condition. It is silver with embroidered black/gray interior. This is my preferred color combination. I feel that the price is not a deal this time of year but maybe fair. What do you think? I can get an extended warranty for 3 years for $2,800. What do you think? Any advice would be appreciated....

I assume you live up north, because you said it is not teh best time of year, so with that said I think it maybe just a tad high, but not out of the ball park. You did not mention is it a dealer or a private party selling it?

I'd agree w. above post; overall, it's not bad and you probably could wait until spring. But then what? Better car? Better condition? Better price? How long will you have to look--1 month, 3 months? You're not getting gouged so if it's the car you like, get it now.
As to the "extended warranty"---by whom? It matters a lot. Do a google on auto extended warranties---some are just awful, some go out of biz while you have them, and some are not worth it. Usually, the ones most recommended are the car mfr's own "extended warranty" and I doubt this car has a GMPP on it which can be extended only if it hasn't run out. If you truly know that the "extended warranty" being offered for $2800 is reputable, has paid up, has a good track record, etc., then go with it. And share the name on here because there are precious few of them!
Good luck no matter what you do.

I think the price seems a little steep too. 31K for an eight year old car with over 35K on the clock seems about 2K too much, especially up north. If it's exactly what you want make an offer, but what they're asking is too high. A lot of those extended warranties are a scam too. You can get a lot of repairs done for $2,800. Unless the warranty was an official GM warranty, don't fall into the trap.

I just purchased a 08 Indy pace car replica and only paid 32000 for it and only had 1500 miles. But I am in a different market place also
I would check with Ken for warranty as I got 48Month,48K for about 2200 no deductable

The price may be a tad high, but if it fits what you're looking for then I say get her. As far as the extended warranty, Ford doesn't have them for GM cars. So it would be a third party warranty that I would run from. I suggest you pass on the warranty, and put the $2800 aside in your bank account. My bet is you won't need all of it for the time you own the car. These cars are quite reliable, and a well maintained one should give you anything but an enjoyable ride. Good luck.

My take:
IF it s your preferred color, body style, trans, etc, AND you intend to keep the car for a few years the deal is not bad.
FMC ext war might not be a bad deal.
For me, it's $28-30k car...and the $30k is a stretch. Make your best deal and spend what is comfortable for you.

Too much money for that car + the warranty, I would not.
Buy a car from a GM dealer and get a CPO warranty. I bought my 08 3 years ago for $28,000 and another $450 I think for the CPO 12 month 12,000 mile B2B Warranty.
I think you can do better but only you know how bad you want the car.
I just checked KBB 23,200 - 27,800 from a dealer

Seems steep.
How much more is a vert worth? Just paid $26,750 for an '08 3LT coupe w/28K miles. I knew going in it needed $1K to be pristine. So, if the Vert is worth $4K more, then a good deal. I'm thinking $29K is the correct price...

I bet you could get it for 29500 to 30000. The 08 is a great year. Don't get a warranty from a ford place. If you want one shop around lots of options thru GM. Go for it, if feel it's a good deal jump on.

Steep. I think no more than $28k for a 3LT 08 with 31k mi. Why pay too much just so you can have it right now? Dealer prolly has less than $25k in it. If you skip this one it won't be hard to find another 08/09/10 just like it. You might need to broaden your horizons geographically. Plenty LS3 C6s out there.
And skip the extended warranty as already mentioned.

I pulled the trigger. The car is exactly what I wanted and is in pristine condition. Didn't get a real deal but probably what it is worth. Paid $30,000. Also, wasn't going to get the extended warranty but they lowered it to $1,700 for 3 years with $100 deductible. It is from a Ford dealership.

I probably tell him $30,000 and include extended warranty for free... Ford extended warranty is a good warranty and you could use it in any major Chevrolet / GMC dealership.

I paid $34k for my 08 JSB A6 3LT Z51 NPP with 4,952 miles. I have no regrets, it had everything that I was looking.

I don't know what part of the country you live in as you've not filled out your profile but around here that price would be high.

Live in S.C. A convertible with 3LT,automatic ,embroidered seats, preferred color combination and is in excellent condition. I think it is a fair not great price.
