Default New Member 2012 GS

Hey Everyone!

(warning if you want pictures just scroll to the bottom)

Long story short I finally picked up a 2012 GS 3LT 6Speed after 3 months of searching. I was really picky about mileage, year, options, interior and exterior color, condition and price. But I have finally Found one! The vehicle has 24k on it right now.

I've always wanted a vette for many years and finally the GS's prices got reasonable (needed the wide body).

I've been on this forum for the last 3 months (never joined) but was doing research and looking at pictures of exactly what I am going for.

This car will be my DD for now but I plan to get a daily at some point, but it will be very hard to get out of this car since it is so awesome to drive. A little bit of my background. I went to school to become a mechanic but I didn't have the skill to be one so I decided to use all my knowledge and become a service advisor. I have been doing it for about 8 years and currently a service advisor at a Honda dealer (not my cup a tea). Oh and by the way, I am not one of those a-holes that try to rip off the customers and have no idea what they are talking about since I went to school to become a mechanic. I've always had a passion for cars since I was in high school. To name all my cars in order 1990 maxima, 1996 maxima manual, 300zx 2+2 non turbo, 300zx 2 seater manual, 300zx 2 seater manual twin turbo, 2006 c230 benz, 2007 yamaha R6, 2002 wrx, 2006 CBR600RR, 2007 P71, 2015 WRX and now the vette. I am hoping to stop with the vette but you can see by my track record I don't keep cars for very long due to boredom. Oh btw I turn 30 this month so you know how I am with cars.

I've been driving the vette for about 2 weeks and all I can say is wow! Power is crazy unlike any vehicle I have ever owned. Stance and looks is on point. But after flooring it once I can say there is plenty of power to satisfy my urge .

Believe it or not after looking through pictures I actually found the previous owner of this car. In the link below.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...sport-6mt.html
Everything this car has my car has besides the front lip which I assume was sold by the 2nd owner. (I will be buying it and putting it back on) Just got to figure out if the car has the bumper support still for the spoiler before I order. If anyone knows an easy way to tell without ripping off the bumper let me know! After looking at what this car has and what I have, I was 90% sure this was this car since the carfax says it was from the same city. (There was still glue on the tail lights from the tinted tail lights which I removed, the glue that is) After registering my car with Chevy it said my 3/36k warranty expires the same day that timsam posted in his ad. That made me 100% sure it was this car. AWESOME!

Future non performance mods (for now)

B&B Fusion exhaust
Z06 Wheels (aftermarket wheels are expensive for this beast!!!!)
Eagle Eye LED tail lights with black outs
Corner lights and side marker blackouts
ZR1 Front lip Carbon Fiber (front bumper support if needed)
ZR1 Extended rear spoiler Carbon fiber (car already has side skirts)
Possible Black OEM headlights
Possible Wrap black HALO and Roof Panel

Yes I have done lots of research as you can tell. It's what I do. No stupid questions from me .

Oh I live in San Francisco if anyone is around here (hardly see any vettes around)

Well that's my story.... Any questions?

I looked at your pictures before I read your text and noticed that the car appeared to be missing the front [black rubber] splitter below the front bumper. GM Part # 15834249. It attaches to the bumper with bolts that go through speednuts that are probably still attached to the bumper.

Enjoy your new ride!

Looks like you have the NPP option so not sure why you would want the BB Fusion exhaust. Not much difference, I have the Fusions and love them but the NPPs are cool also.

Congrats. Beautiful car. But I'm biased because I've got a 2013 silver 6-speed 3LT GS coupe with NPP and chrome wheels. Great choice and enjoy.

What an outstanding color choice........Welcome to the club. Stop on over to Hammy's Grand Sport Bar and Grill thread and we will buy you a virtual drink.......Hammy has passed on but the Bar is open for business.....

Speaking of Mods.......here is how that Blade Silver looks all tinted out and with a black halo and roof.........I do like those red calipers on your car........

Do you remove this when putting on a ZR1 front lip or do you need it with it?

I would like the sound level of the B&B bullets. I've heard mix things about the fusions. Timsam installed the dead pedal Mild to Wild switch so most of the time I would drive with flaps open and some people say it sounds just a little quieter than the bullets. And close them say on the freeway. The stock exhaust is just not loud enough for my taste even with open flaps on the freeway (drone does not bother me one bit but cops here don't like exhaust)

Thanks! Glad to be here. Thanks for the picture of the black halo and roof. Will help me decide.
Sorry for your loss... Where is this place located?

I don't think the bullets are quieter than the fusions open. I like closing them on freeway so no drone at all. You don't like the NPP option that is currently on the car?

I want to retain the NPP option so I can open and close the flaps. It looks like Fusions do have a version to retain that so I can still close the flaps when need be. I hear that bullets are one of the loudest axle backs that you can buy but there is no flap control which is why they made the fusions. The stock NPP is just too quiet when I have them at open all the time. It sounds good but quiet. My WRX is louder which just has a axle back. I am just use to driving loud cars. I am still doing research and looking at videos but they all are mixed results. Some say just as loud as bullets when open and some say they are disappointed because they are not loud enough. Who do I believe?!?! Researching as I type this.

This is what the splitter looks like on the GS. It was on there from the factory so someone removed it.

If you want to save a few bucks and NOT get the OEM splitter from GM, you can replace it with a ZR1 style splitter from ebay. I got one and like it alot for $200 delivered. The only difficulty might be the mounting holes as I used the OEM splitter as a template for the install.

Ebay splitter description: For 05-13 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06 ZR1 Style ABS Front Lip Kit Splitter Bumper

OEM: http://www.gmwarehousedirect.com/che...=valance-panel

Love my GS and good for you too!

Nice car and welcome to the club. First order of business should be to remove the front license plate. lol. hopefully CarMax didn't drill holes.

I agree with you on your list of mods, get the top and halo wrapped or painted black.
