Default goodyear eagle F1 tires

What do you guys think of the Goodyear Eagle F1 tires? Some for sale in my area but I haven't heard great things.

There are better choices available from several different brands. Lots of threads on the subject, and very few people actually prefer the noisy, short tread life Goodyears.

They are terrible, I don't notice much noise, but they do grab the grooves in the road...there are much better tires out there, I have never been a fan of Goodyear Tires...Michelin or Bridgestone gets my vote.

Awful tires in every way. Go with Michelin.

They are not awful tires in every way, meaning, they are pretty good for autocross or HDPE track days, once they are heated up. They are very predictable, and can get you to and from the track safely too.

Having said that - Just about every tire out there is equal or better for street use, and that is why Michelin was chosen as the OEM corvette tire for the C7. They apparently have their issues too (cracking when cold, etc.), but they are still better than the Goodyears.

FOR STREET USE - I personally prefer Bridgestones first, with a very close second to Michelin for DD street use. But many prefer Nittos, Firestones, Continentals, Kuhmos. Hardly anyone prefers Goodyears.

FOR TRACK USE, it depends on how aggressive you want to be, and that will decide what tire to use there There are many threads about it.

Looks like I will be making that decision soon! My 08 has the original tires with only 2500 miles on them BUT they are 8 year old tires. Still look good but will replace them in the spring

Probably a good idea given the age.....soon you can join the ongoing decision making .....RF or NON RF and then the various brands. Lots of good advice here, but in the end it will be how YOU drive your car, the look and feel you want. Most will agree that the OEM Goodyears are not the replacement tire of choice!

Unless they are giving them away, there are much better and cheaper options out there IMO
I've had 2 sets of GY F1 Supercars on my car. 1st and last!

On two separate occasions I have contacted GY about premature wear (well less than 10K on gently driven tires) and both times they have replaced them at less than 90 bucks per tire (not counting installation); shows they're not great tires but that GY will back them....mixed emotions, no?

My 08 has originals on it with 17K, they passed NY inspection, but they are too tread thin for me. I bought some new wheels since I'm getting new tires in the spring.

I took them off my '10 GS a few years ago with 6000 miles on them. After encountering a few heavy rainstorms while on a road trip to Bowling Green, my wife said she would never get back in the car with those tires on it. Put the Bridgestones on and it's like night and day in the rain.

I went through the exact same scenario. I replaced my originals at 1/2 thread because they were too dangerous and unsafe for road trips when encountering rain and wet pavement.
I went with Firestones and it was like night and day.

Even if they gave those away for free, I wouldn't put the GY F1 Supercars on my C6 again.

The tires SUCK!!!! plain and simple. It would also be a PIA to have to get them replaced time and time again.
They couldn't give me a free set of those, but I would take them and sell them to you

Hum! I liked the GYs F1 tires that came on my 08/Z51 I had it aligned soon after I drove it off the lot. I took a couple of trips to the West Coast in the summer months and they are great hot weather tires IMO,at least my was. I had Firestones put on at 27000 miles and they still passed inspection. I went with FS's due to the cost different.

Almost anything except the Goodyears. Depending if you want to stay with runflats or not there are some great choices out there. Michelin or Firestones come to mind.

I don't have a problem with my GY F1's since I only drive in the summer and as of yet only on dry pavement. I know for sure I want to stay with RF tires, but will find a tire that is not as noisy when that time comes. I know very few vette owners that by them again, unless it is a really good deal.

I don't drive mine hard so I hope it is quite some time before I have to replace them.
