Default Do I need to change rotors?

Ive been scouring everyplace for pad and rotor kit for my '12 GS, it looks like the pads are wearing down, but only at 14k miles????

Do I need to change the rotors as well or can I get away with a decent set of semi-metallic? How long do they last versus the ceramics? ive been reading you lose braking power with the semi metallic, but they last a while

Semi metallic pads are OE and have better stopping power than ceramic. That's why I put them on my GS last year with 22,000 miles. I didn't change rotors, but I will next pad change. As long as the rotors look good just do the pads. With that few miles they should be in good condition. Just call your local auto parts store for pricing. I got my paddlets at Advance auto, Wearever Gold for 10' GS. ..

I can't imagine that after 14K miles that the rotors would need changing, but to be on the safe side, check the thickness of the rotors using a micrometer. The minimum thickness is stamped on the rotor.
The minimum thickness should be as follows:

Fronts - 30.3 mm 1.19 inches

Rears - 24.5 mm .965 inches

I had 50K when I changed my pads, and the rotors were still well above the minimum thickness

If the rotors are smooth and stop without any pulsing of shimmy, I'd say you're fine.

OP, if interested in less dust, PM me, I have some new pads, I'll email you some pics and info. They are a brand new set of Ceramic pads I have, that I never used. I ended up staying with factory pads, since I occasionally track my car.

If this car has not been tracked at 14k miles you don't need new pads!

Unless there is a brake dragging related issue, or you want less dust by going with Ceramic style pads, everything should still be in good shape.

I recently replaced all 4 brake pads myself at 52k miles. Yes the original pads lasted this long. I guess I do not stress my brakes very often.

Anyway, I had no symptoms of rotor issue so I only deglazed them with brake cleaner and a scotch brite pad. Everything seems A-OK.

btw I used Autozone ceramic pads and it does seem like less brake dust as expected.
