Does anybody know how hot the fuel rail covers are after extended duration normal engine temps are? I wouldn't want to spray my fuel raul covers only to one day pop the hood and see red paint everywhere

I did mine myself. I cleaned and degreased the fuel rails and the intake cover several times. I Masked the corvette and LS letters off using painters tape and an xacto knife. I used a high temp primer, then sprayed the color, pulled the mask off of the lettering then applied clear. The color was rattle can from oreilly's, it was oddly very, very close to Jetstream blue. The clear was two part automotive clear I bought at the auto paint store. I sprayed three good coats and gave it a day to cure. I have a 95 Corvette that I painted some plastic parts on and baked them, the plastic outgased and bubbled in some places. So I didn't bake these parts, just let them dry at ambient temp. It's been right at a year and about 6 thousand miles, 2100 miles was a trip in August to Biloxi Mississippi , bowling green and back home, with some temps over 100 outside. To date, it looks just as good as the day I finished. Just prep well and thorough!

I have had painted covers installed for a couple years with no problems. Like stated above they look the same as when I put them on.

I had airbrushed covers in another car, after 8 years there was only alittle bit of clear coat pealing.

Not so Fast:

Looks like you might have used a roller to apply the paint. Don't see any brush marks!

Painted parts aren't cheap for a reason. Labor to prep. It's amazing how good the results can be with the rattle can. Just need to start with a properly prepared surface. Just as seen above.

Good luck. Don't forget to buy real Velocity Yellow. It's available in rattle form.

Slugg, you may have posted those pics before, and I just wanted to tell you what a great job you did. Took a lot of patience to get it right. Looks super!!

You must have used the left-handed brushes; yours are in the opposite direction than NSF's.

You, my friend, have made a very good observation ... And with that ... I have no answer.
