Default Concave ding (impression) front bumper

Hey y'all. Yesterday I noticed a quarter sized concave impression on my front bumper (06 car). I park/drive the car very strategically and cautious. It has a few rocks chips here and there, but this... What the heck? Anyone else been in the same scenario? You can only see it looking at certain angles, but it's forever stuck in my head. Ahh.

I need to pull it out in the sun I guess, but it's where the fence in the reflection is skewed.

Picture is not great.
Really can't say what the issue is.
Any evidence of an impact?

Yet my only suggestion would be to remove the bumper and used a heat gun to attempt to reform the rubber/ plastic bumper to shape from the back side. Do this sooner than later before the cover ding sets.

Or really "cobb" mold a Styrofoam piece between the bumper reinforcement and bumper cover to add pressure and align the bumper cover back to shape/ form.

Either might or might not work.

Else appears minor, it is a street car it will gets chips and scratches.

Good luck.

The dimples for the front plate look worse

I agree it's very hard to see in that photo. The only thing that I noticed is the railing from the building in the reflection in that area seems to be distorted. As others mentioned take a pix at an angle

Yeah, I pulled it outside into the sunshine and shot it from every angle in the world, and my iPhone camera couldn't show the spot. I just recently moved to Kansas City so I don't have a shop I would trust fooling with it, yet. I should be laughing at myself because the next guy wouldn't give it a second thought. Just my ocd to the max. You think a heat gun would work on something so minor? I'm at a loss. Would y'all let this go?

I would not use a heat gun. You might make it worse an melt the bumper.

Looks to me like someone backed into your car and the indentations were made by their tail-pipe(s).

A heat gun isn't going to do it, and unfortunately you have a relatively difficult color to match.

Post on you Regional Forum and get a recommendation from the 'locals' regarding a body/paint shop you can trust.

Then either live with it, or plan on spending about $400-450 +/-, to get the bumper returned to good as new.

I thought about that, but there isn't a scratch or anything there...Wouldn't it take some paint off at least if that was the case? Thanks.

Not necessarily, I put similar divots in my old base nose when I parked a little too close to my Vette's garage mate, a '69 MGB GT with an Anza exhaust sticking out the back.

That's what I first thought of, when I saw your pic.

It may drive you crazy or it might just let you relax a bit knowing it's just a little ding and there are undoubtedly more in your future.

Gotcha. Id like to think every time I park it out somewhere I stay in view of it like its my child, but anything can happen I guess. Thanks for the enlightenment on more to come. It's inevitable and I guess I'm a little bit in denial.

Urethane has a memory. Purchase a small suction cup at an autobody supply. Press the suction cup in the center of the concave. Use light heat from a hair dryer or heat gun in a circular motion around the area while gently pulling on the suction cup. When the area returns to normal height use a cold wet cloth to cool. Bumper will retain it's shape.
OR..find a paintless dent removal co. in your area and for about $100 they will do the same.

Without better images, I'd say that it could have been caused by something such as a shopping cart.

I had a VERY similar impression that remained on my C5's bumper when I tried to physically push back a double-trailer with jetskis into our garage, only to have it catch the edge of the Vette and bounce right off. The impression looked VERY similar. Didn't cause any paint damage but made a nasty impression. I'd read everything that people said about urethane popping out and such but sadly the only fix was to have the bumper repaired then repainted....and then a whole new set of annoying problems arose. Wanna hear more? Check out the thread i made here (with pictures)

That could of caused it as well. It's a minefield in grocery store parking lots. I have done everything I can but without a superior camera I can't snap a decent photo to capture it. I guess that's a good thing. All these responses have been extremely helpful. If anything, I feel like I've let my car down.
