My thoughts...either you like the look or you don't. I didn't need to temporarily see how it looked on mine so I painted. I read on here how vinyl looks bad/scratched after awhile. If you have ever had to remove several year old vinyl wrap on a car, you will seriously consider painting instead.
Went to body shop to get paint price for halo and top..."800 bucks and that is a great price!"
Painted cars in my youth and still had my Binks Model 7. Was happy with my effort and $750 cheaper than the body shop.

Well, that makes a big difference since you didn't say that in your orignal post. Most people are not putting 60k miles in 2 years on their car so you can't say 2 years and he will be doing it again. Unless he is putting that many miles on his car in such a short amount of time or beating it to the ground, it will hold up fine.
That's like saying your tires will last 25k miles in 2 years and someone else says theirs only lasted 10k miles in 2 years and they are the same tires. If you don't put in minor details as to how you use the car and how hard you're running your tires (such as track), you are giving incorrect information specific to that persons situation.
Everyone has their opinion - but if the OP says he does 60k miles in 2 years, then it's valid but that is not the norm of most people.
Good wrap material brand and a good installer = longevity.

Did mine a couple of years ago. No regrets so far and it's holding up well. But the car isn't a daily driver so I can't say the same thing if it was outside everyday.
Point #2 - I wanted to be able to "undo" it if I every sold it so that's why I went with a wrap vs. paint.

I had mine painted. Mine is a daily driver and I had over 6 years with vinyl stripes. They were pretty tore up on the front fascia, hood and targa after 2 years. Went through 4 sets of stripes in 6 years. Decided to paint mine as I knew I loved the look.

I love that look and never thought of the wrap solution for th halo.
For those of you with the dark top look, you are using the factory glass top, correct?

Rear glass and side windows if they're tinted.
