Removed the torque tube tunnel plate under the car and installed this product I purchased from Summit Racing:

Design Engineering DEI 050502 - DEI Floor and Tunnel Shields II

Really think this is gonna help (along with the VetteNuts Premium Insulation kit I installed last summer) to reduce the heat inside the car when I do those drives to Arizona in the summer and the outside air temp is 110 degrees.

Finished polishing and did a coat of Pinnacle Black Label sealant. I should have expected the Pinnacle to look great, smell great, and be easy to work with based on my history with their products, but I was still shocked at how easy it was to buff.

There's snow in the forecast so I think I'm going to have to bump the timetable up on getting a few more coats on so I can get it to the gas station before it goes away for the winter.

Not this weekend, but I also recently removed my exhaust and plate and insulated the tunnel. I used a dynamat-like material first, then followed with 6mm closed cell foam material with a foil face. These were applied to the tunnel, - not the torque tube itself. After reinstalling the plate, I also insulated the exhaust tunnel. Results are nothing short of amazing. NO more heat! Should have done it a long time ago.

Also did the exhaust tunnel. Anxious to "feel" the results.

It’s not the weekend, but I just changed the oil and filter, changed out the clutch and brake fluids also. They were both nasty looking. I bought this Vette in April with 13k on it and it looks like the Original Owner did zero maintenance. He also never drove this car in the rain, underneath is pristine. I guess he never washed it with water either, used waterless wash type products. I love working on clean clean cars! Lol

Last night I cleaned my throttle body, pulled my CAI and made sure the filter was good. Previous owner installed a cat back exhaust and CAI. The CAI is a Hurricane, did not know that until I took it off and did a little research. I also pulled the wheels and cleaned inside of them.
Quick Jack FTW!!!

Default A little DIY project

A couple weeks back I noticed that the years and several long road trips had taken its toll on my Racemesh Grill Insert. As you can see in the first picture, the grill had been forced up and, if you look close enough, you can see the paint on the mesh itself had chipped off in several locations. Last night I removed the insert; I removed, cleaned and treated the rubber boarder with a UV protectant, then I repainted the grill/mesh. I let it everything dry overnight and reassembled it this morning. When I reinstalled the insert, I fastened it in such a way as to hopefully prevent it from slipping up again; I also made a new spacer to go between the top of the insert and the bumper to prevent it slipping up.

Snow on Wednesday, 65 degrees here today. Took advantage of the weather to do some yard work and detail the car.

Not bad.... No filter....

Had a full set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports installed. Replaced the standard issue Goodyears. The most notable difference right off is the reduction in road noise. Got to take a 130 mile round trip (mostly highway) and was quite pleased with the ride.
Hoping they hold up well.
