How Far Did You Go to get "The One"
Being a Corvette lover since riding around with my Dad in the 50's, I don't remember a time when I didn't lust after that wonderful American Sports Car that always seemed out of reach, A frikin CORVETTE!!
! Many years later I am now the proud owner of my second Corvette, and this time it's "The ONE"
I'm thinking there are many stories out there just like mine about finally being able to get into a situation to get and afford "The One"!
Here is My Baby! BTW I drove 4 hours across the state to get it ...because it was THE ONE!

We flew from Chicago to Dallas to pick ours up just over two years ago. Then we completely enjoyed the drive home.

Have owned a few used Vettes over the years, but as I got close to retiring from the Air Force, I wanted a new one and it had to be exactly what I wanted. Started my search in late 2005, checked out all the colors, options, etc. When I finally decided on 'the one for me, a DSOM coupe with the 3LT & Z51 packages, in late 2006 I ran into two issues. No dealership in Vegas had the combo I wanted & none would come down to less then $10k over MSRP. I was just about ready to order one, when I decided to give the 'Negotiators' at USAA a shot at finding the one I wanted. Less then 24 hours later, they contacted me. Not only did they find exactly what I wanted and have it delivered to a local (Vegas) dealership who agreed to broker the deal, they negotiated the price down to little more then $3k below MSRP.

I flew from Atlantic Canada to Dayton Ohio, the dealer picked me up at the airport, and we drove to St. Mary's Ohio. I then drove my car 1250 miles home.

Mine was in Abilene Tx.. 400 miles from Hope Ar... Paid one of my employees to ride there with me and I drove it home.. There were scores of them much closer but the one I wanted was in Abilene so that's where I went... Shopping for used cars sometimes requires a bit of travel to get the one.

Live near St. Louis, but found mine in Eastern Pa. Did all the work over the phone and internet, bought it sight unseen, and had it shipped to my driveway. Half an hour later I was behind the wheel heading to South Bend for the weekend. It was a good way to break it in and learn everything about it.

Ours was in Vail AZ. Drove it home to Salmon Arm, BC. Canada.
Just over 2770 kms (1725 miles), enjoyed every minute, but now I understand why they call some the the states "The fly over States"

Took about 6 months to do so, but found my latest one in state instead.
As for if you are "must have it now guy", then expect a few flights/trips to go check some out in other states instead.
And yes, may take a few trips until you find the ideal one that is perfect for you instead of a used Vet. Hence all your check boxes may be checked before you take the trip, but not uncommon to find a major flaw with the vet once you are in person to not buy it once there instead.

I looked periodically for several years after driving a Corvette for the first time at a Museum event in 2010 and one day riding around found THE ONE at a local dealer. It was traded in by the used car sales manager's uncle on a C7. Bought my 2013 GS April 8, 2016 with 7200 miles. Had to be a GS auto with low miles. Mission Accomplished. No regrets. Has 15k miles just over a year later.

But then I'm kinda biased towards wide body C6 corvettes!
I bought mine new in 2013 and had it shipped to me, 3000 miles from California to South Florida.
Most exciting car purchase I've ever made!! Love this car!!
