Discoloration in electrochromatic mirror
My son just got home from college, and we were out washing his '07 coupe... I noticed the driver's side mirror has some discoloration (has a burned look to it). This is only present in the glass itself.
Did a search and didn't find anything. He said it has been like that for a little while.
Has anyone seen this type of thing before?
Doesn't look like there is anything we can do except replace the mirror.

You'll have to replace the mirror. That's the backing that makes the mirror reflective. Can be caused by heat. Are they heated mirrors? It's possible the heater in the mirror might have gone bad and burned the mirror backing.

Thanks for the reply...makes perfect sense.
I will have to check and see if they are heated... I don't think they are. However, his car sits outside in the Texas heat, so that may have caused the issue.
I don't know much of anything about replacing these, but I can't see how it would be that difficult.

Your title says electrochromatic mirror. That would be a 3LT option which also means that mirror is heated. 2LT and above have a heated driver's side mirror. Proof is that in the option list in the glove compartment you will find DL8. Leaving the defroster on all the time could have caused this but it could also just be a failed heater.

Am I the only one who thinks that sending your child off to college in a 400 HP car is crazy?

Since pretty much everything on these cars is computer controlled, a failed heater is actually rather unlikely. It might stop heating but to stay on would require the BCM computer directing the DDM computer to keep it turned on or a failed DDM which should demonstrate other issues or a short to power which should set codes. I included it so that, if it is a heater short and always on, I could always come back and say "see, I told you so".
Simple test, is the mirror warm after running the car for 10 minutes?

But to just add fuel to the fire... we put a cam and headers on his car and it puts out ~400rwhp through the A6 trans. He bought my SVT Lightning truck when he was 16 and drove that for 4 years... nary a scratch on that truck when he sold it and bought this C6. His younger sister also has an SVT Lightning truck. 0 accidents, 0 tickets.
Thanks again for your concern.
