P0833 code, replace clutch pedal switch, code still active!?
I have had the clutch pedal switch replaced and code was reset. The cruise control started working after the code was reset. 3 days later, the check engine light illuminated again, cruise stopped working. Had the code checked again, P0833. Adjusted clutch pedal switch, (the one that turns at the top of the clutch pedal that the clutch pedal contacts when NOT depressed. Also did a resistance test on the switch since it just has contacts. Tested open until depressed, zero resistance depressed. Any suggestions? Hats off to all of our fallen soldiers.

I would suspect the connector or wires at switch, it worked for a few day after replacing and the only thing worked on was the switch and connector, I assume. Make sure the wires aren't rubbing agains metal and grounding out or being pinched.

Just 2 thoughts. Is the clutch pedal returning all the way to the top of it's travel? And is the brake fluid low?
Other than the switch itself there haven't been many problems/discussions on this. Here's the only one I can remember that discusses the 2 things above:

Full return on the clutch. Both brake fluid and clutch fluid are full. No frays visible on the wires, they are wrapped. Connectors are clean without broken tabs so they are secure when connected.

Thanks for the link Rick, I have referenced that link prior to post. Seems as if replacing the switch corrects the problem because I cant find any issues posted if the switch doesn't correct it....... except mine.

Read post 15 and 19, they are saying it is a rheostat, so maybe your switch is also bad. Resistance should change and not go from open to closed.

FYI, check to make sure that the clutch assist spring is installed.
If your is snapped, or missing, replace it with the C-5 clutch pedal assist spring.
The C-5 spring is the smaller one on the right, and gives less middle to bottom assist, as well as less middle to top spring tension for a more liner pedal push and release (but enough to make sure that the pedal is holding the top switch all the way in when the pedal is at rest).

Will check the spring this weekend with the install of the clutch/cruise switch which I ordered today for 15 bucks from GM dealer. Flying to DC so will post results when I return. Thanks Dano523, the swap still sounds like a good idea either way for the feel of the clutch.

Did you do a resistance on the two switches? Just curious if you saw a problem.

Unfortunately I didn't test the old and new to check the difference. I have already trashed the old ones so I am not able to test, but for anyone reading this thread, I would replace both switches, the code for the brake/clutch switch didn't fix the problem, the clutch position switch fixed it but for approx $15 bucks each, definitely a cheap and worthwhile replacement.
