thanks one and all
it's been fun so far hanging with a bunch of people who truly love cars enough to enjoy the holistic nature of devoting this much time to an inanimate object......we're a lucky bunch

Smart kid,
It zippy for daily traffic driving, it's 4 wheel drive so can take it more places than a Vet, and with it having 4 seats, can take more people in it/better for date night parking as well.
Hence when you older, the Vet is just a toy in the toy box to play with once in a while , and not the entire toy only instead.
And FYI, it harder to pull and retain chicks in your youth in a favorable out come with a Vet (unless you are a truth fund baby). Hence they come in packs that you have to drive the pack around before you can separate one from the heard instead (drop the other ones off home first, before you can go with parking with here in the end).

that is just bad parenting. my daughter's first car was my old C5 vert while her friends were driving new civics, she was proud as hell of her old mans car

The WRX is a fun car. Mine just has a tune and some minor engine mods, but it feels very quick, even coming right out of my C6. The car revs so easily and that turbo kicks in with a nice punch. With a nice exhaust, the boxer engine makes great sounds (not like a typical 4cyl at all). With just whiteline swaybars and 255/18 Pilot Supersports, the car handles really well in the mountain back roads too.
The WRX always reminded me of the 60's Chevy II for some reason. It's not a top dog, but a real blast for the money and takes mods really well.
I don't plan on getting rid of my C6 or WRX any time soon. They're both really great cars.

You did fine he has an interest in automobiles and chose one of his liking. Give him a big hug and make him feel good that you approve of his choice. You will never regret that moment and neither will he.You are his dad.

I like the WRX. The kid likes fast cars, I think you did a fine job.
Now if he was going around town in a Vespa and wearing a beanie while sporting a goatie heading over to get greenie smoothies with his buddies...that's when I'd want you to have a sit down with the lad.

your will be embarrassed if your son mods that car a bit and leaves you choking on dust.

Your Son sounds smarter than you at the same age. Got a performance 4 door car. Last I checked all your cars don't have back seats if you know what I mean

and appreciate all the clever replies. although we DO own a Pious, er Prius as well and I am a Democrat but my (guilty) son is a successful IT, code writer for Amazon and is leaning Libertarian, "sigh"...just because he makes over twice what I make and has more brains up his a....I mean in his little finger than I have doesn't mean he should make the same mistakes I have......
Let's all take a moment to imagine what a vintage car cruise in will look like in twenty years. Lots of bad azz Hondas and Subarus. And, of course, the occasional "murdered out" Prius like the one I saw a kid driving last week. Lots of pop up vendors with chips and all the electronics to become a real hotrodder. Maybe one or two selling those antique socket sets.

Unless the kid is an acrobatic midget I am assuming that the parking you refer to is because of the short wheelbase

WRX's are cool and all, but those motors and transmissions can't handle much over 400hp. I wouldn't mind owning one if I lived up north in the snow and all, but I wouldn't modify it at all. They're much more reliable stock or just mildy tuned. They don't have the typical ricer sound, they're inline flat 4's like a porsche/vw. A typical STI with mods will run mid 12s with a killer 60 foot and low MPH. I'd regularly run in the 1.3-1.5 range with my friend's WRX with street tires and a 5k rpm dump. A vette will get left on the launch but pretty quickly start reeling a WRX in on the big end.
At the end of the day... much better start to his automotive journey than yours was. lol.

At least your son has an interest in cars ...
Mine could care less what he drives, cars are just basic transportation.
Like most millennials he also is a staunch Bernie supporter.
At least my daughter is totally into cars (she chose an Infinity G37s).

If he's anything like my son, he tells me he's waiting a few years for me to become senile and forget that I even own a Corvette. Then he'll have one for free.

And no, the Boot lid is the wrong surface to try get randy on, and rather not relive the moments of bouncing the family jewels/catching them in on boot T handle release latch instead.

Ahh yes. I remember the enjoyable experience it is to have to replace the head gaskets on those engines, not to mention the camshaft belt. It will take the car out of service for a while for sure when the time comes.
