Cat prints suggestions help
I just got my car back from the dealer having had the whole car buffed and UV protection reapplied to my car and it looked stunning. I have no garage so it stays outside in the summer months. I went to bed that night and woke up to the following pictures. The neighbor's cat walked all over it putting sandy paw prints all over it. I talked to the neighbors on several occasions about this problem and they just acted indifferent saying they don't know why it does this. I tried putting my indoor cover on to no avail. I ordered an out door cover and it's on back order. I am not a dick or OCD but I'm past the pissed off stage and am sick of having to wash my car every day before driving it. It's embarrassing to drive a black car this pretty with cat prints all over the thing. Rant over.... Any suggestions on my next move ? I bought a BB/ pellet gun thinking it might deter it some. The owners of the cat gave me "permission" to squirt water at it any time it's near my car. It only does this when I'm in my apartment at night sleeping. I'm thinking a safari is going to happen soon. Sometimes the little bastard is sitting there when I come out just to see my reaction. This happens every day.

I've had 2 black Vettes and had them in the garage and still couldn't keep them clean. Black cars will stay clean for all of about 15 minutes at best so I can't imagine what it would be like sitting outside.

I understand that with black cars, but footprints with sand on them is a possible scratch problem. I usually wash mine twice a week and that's enough for me. Every day is too much.

I would start here;
http://www.oswegony.org/government/animal-control
If the cat isn't registered with the city then I would call and have them remove it.
It isn't clear if you own your own home or are in an apartment. If a neighbors cat was coming on my property, I would trap it and deliver it back to the owners in the cage. If it happened again, I would take it to the pound. They can pay to get it back.
Here is a pretty good article on how to handle this. It's California but probably makes sense for most of the nation.

My C6 stays in an open-air carport 24/7. During the summer, I spread mothballs on the ground around the car. It will keep cats off the car.
You will have to replace the mothballs about once a month. They do eventually melt.

Forget squirting the cat with water ... waste of time, and won't help at all

Squirt gun every time you see it near your car will work over time. It will get the idea. Also spraying the pepper mix or even possibly a fox urine around could help as well until you get your cover. Irresponsible pet owners suck but keep in mind it's not the animals fault. It's being what it is. Shooting it isn't the answer, with a pellet gun or other. You potentially can hit your car and do more damage than some paw prints. Not to mention the issues that may come up if you hit a kid or other person while shooting at the cat. Poison would also be equally irresponsible on your part. Some neighbors dog drinks it and dies and now you've got trouble on your hands there as well. Be smart. Deal with it as best you can until you get your cover.

Don't be evasive. You're looking for an excuse to shoot the cat with your Red Ryder BB gun because that will make you feel like you've done something proactive about the problem. It's a black car man and you don't have a garage. Buy yourself a California Duster and use your indoor cover until the new outdoor cover arrives. You haven't explained how you tried the indoor cover and that didn't work. Your neighbors can't stop their cat from sitting on your car if they even cared to. It's a cat. Now, put on your big boy pants and clean off your car.

Yeah, but wait till he's sitting on your car before your shoot. "22lr", pictures of dead cats, setting traps. Wow, what bunch of real he-men. We had cats and dogs for years and, if somebody shot one of my cats, somebody was going to pay for it. Take a photo of their cat on your car and tell them that you would like them to pay for the detailing of the car. See how that goes down.
