Oil Dip stick question?
Ok need some advice. I really dislike the look of the yellow standard dip stick that the corvette comes with. I found that there was a forum member that was selling a chrome handle dip stick for a good price. I ended up purchasing the dip stick but the problem is that the dip stick is for a ls3 with a dry slump engine, which is way shorter than the stock dip stick that I currently have. My question is this, Can I use the chrome dip stick for normal driving and put the stock dip stick when it comes to oil changes or will doing this hurt my car in any way shape or form. The seal of the dip stick is perfect.
Thank you in advance and I hope everyone has a fun but safe 4th of July.

I'm sure you can, it's just plugging the hole. Use the stock one for checking the oil level. If it gets to be a hassle just sell the shorter one and get the proper length.

I painted the handle of my dip stick red. Looks better IMHO.

Seriously?? If your idea of a dipstick is to plug a hole and decorate the engine compartment, then go ahead and use the stupid chrome thing. If your idea of a dipstick is a device to use to measure your oil level then, no, don't use a short stick. That's just crazy.

2nd of all I don't track my car and I put in less that 2k miles the whole year.
Thus the car only needs 1 oil change a year done at the dealership. Thus the actual dip stick would be used ONE TIME. I open my hood way more times than that when I clean my car and people at the car wash admirer my engine.
You must be one of those "perfect people" that always have to post some negative s*!* to make you feel good while bashing someone's question. You probably didn't get. Rephrased If you have nothing nice to say. Shut up and keep your negatives comments for your self, what you typed as a comment was useless and worth less, by the way happy 4 of July.

Apparently, you didn't read the post when I stated that I would carry my stock one in my trunk.

Apparently I offended you by suggesting that a dip stick is a device for checking the oil level and not a dazzler for the folks at the car wash. I did notice your comment about carrying around the stock dip stick and thought that it was ridiculous. BTW, I have a chrome dip stick and tube on my '69 Mustang, but I would have never installed it if it didn't reach the oil pan. Sorry I hurt your feelings. I guess that's a big no no these days.
