Found a car I like but not sure what to pay
This would be my first Corvette. It is a 2006 convertible with 60,000 miles on it. Excellent condition and the color combination I like best. Monterey Red with the black top and light gray interior. I have not found this combination on any cars I've looked at.
Does not have the Z-51 option but am told it has the "suspension package". Power roof also. I'm in Southern California, if that matters.
Private party is asking $24,900, which seems high. I was thinking maybe $22,000 to $23,00, and that is only because it is the exact car I want.
Thoughts guys?

Check the NADA value. A quick look shows clean retail at $25,500 plus for options.
Check Carfax and take the VIN to your local Chevy dealer and he can give you a copy of all work performed by Chevy dealers.
If it checks out and you like it then go for it.

If it has adjustable ride control, then it is F55 suspension package, I believe.
For a 'vert in the condition you say it is in, I don't think $22-23k is out of line. Prices for these cars have already taken a big hit, and have hit a soft bottom, IMHO. Sure they will go down some more over time, but the way I look at it is that you're not going to take a beating at all when you go to sell it.
Given it is the color combo you want, optioned how you want, in the condition you find that is very good... I would not sweat it. It's not like they are asking $30k and you have no way of negotiating it down to a more reasonable price.
Nothing wrong with trying to get the best deal possible...don't get me wrong. I just believe when I find the right car for me, I'm not going to let $500-$1k be the deciding factor. Granted, each person's financial situation is different, and I respect that.
Good luck with the negotiations.

Looks like price is right for your area but I would still try to negotiate it lower.
Second step is get VIN to dealer for them to run a history and get a carfax.
If they are okay then get it checked by a knowledgeable mechanic.
If it checks out then drive it and enjoy.

I'd check Kelley Blue Book, NADA and Edmonds as well as Auto Trade for prices in your area.

No, but I will. Seller said he ordered the car with the black top and gray interior. See a lot of tan/tan and black/black, but not this combo.

I agree with the others who say pay what its worth to you, what's it worth to be getting behind the wheel of the car you want. In that regard, to me $1000 wouldn't matter. Life is short, and unlike many other folks, I'm impatient and do not enjoy kicking tires for too long just to save a few bucks - for the right car yes, for a few bucks no. Good luck, I hope it checks out fine and ends up in your garage.
