Default Corsa Sport Install, San Diego, CA

I just purchased the Corsa Sport and was wondering if anyone knows of a shop that does great work that I can trust, Ed Hanson is out since I can't make it down during the week, also heard that American Muffler in Kearney Mesa is good.

Any info. I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Just be sure they take the time to aline the tips evenly. It isn't difficult but attention to detail is important.

Nothing worse than a exhaust tips not lining up evenly.

Also sometime the clamps will loosen some and the connections will walk a bit, causing misalignment.

Any muffler shop with a caring tech can do the job.

Be sure to express your concerns prior and judge the shop from there.

I ended up having a small tack weld to the clamps to keep them secure.

No problems after this and it is easily dealt with if needed in the future.

I contacted a couple of places and I think I narrowed it down to 2 places either Top Flight Corvettes or American Muffler, the difference is TF is $250 and AM is $160, but not sure if the TF is better since they work on tons of Corvettes and is the difference worth the $90.

Thanks

If you like the attitude of the muffler shop, meaning getting it done to your satisfaction, save the $$.

Just because a shop works on Corvettes doesn't mean squat if they have poor customer service.

I always talk with the shop telling them my expectations and wanting to hear that yes they can and will meet them, hold them to it!

Sometimes you have to be very forward showing them that you will not be a easy customer regarding poor work.

Any capable muffler shop can do the job - there's nothing to it !! A fair percentage of forum members, some with limited mechanical knowledge, have successfully fitted Corsa systems to their cars. They "fit like a glove !!"

I, due to a lack of time and tools used a local shop called "Muffler Man." they installed my Corsa Sport system, with the Corsa X-pipe as well, in a little over about an hour. Cost ? "100 bucks !!"

Good luck !!

I'm 77 and about 2 years ago I installed my own Corsa Sports. It took about 2 hours and I did it in my garage with out a lift with no help.
If I could do it so can you.

I am rapidly approaching 77 and I have no desire to do it myself. My Corsa Sport exhaust will be shipped early neat week. I will have it installed by DRW Transmission and Auto Care in Santee.
They work on automatic and manual transmissions and as the name implies, anything related to auto repairs. They work on Corvettes, street rods, muscle cars, etc.

And.........plan on re-visiting the shop after a few heat/cooling cycles to have them re-torque the clamps.

They are both good but I hadn't been to A.M. since the 90's. If communication is good, you should be able to get the install done to your satisfaction. Hopefully you will be on a 4 post lift to avoid the possibility of rocker damage- everything else is easy.

I had MikesZ51Vette, do the Corsa Sport exhaust install last weekend and it sounds great, I was wondering if all the Corsa exhaust tips look like mine kinda pointed inward, see pick.

They were installed per instruction left/right.

Thanks again, Mike for the install.

No, they should come straight out the back. I just went through this same problem and Corsa had to send me another set. The first set would not align due to the hangers being slightly off on the weld. This set aligned with no problem. If it doesn't bother you then they are fine, it bothered me. I'm happy now!

I agree w. ECV re it's at the wrong angle. I've not seen any that pointed inward (toward each other).

Ya this is where you have to have all the connections loose and really work the angles to get the tips pointing straight and level.

Not hard just takes some time.

Takes two guys with one viewing looking down on the tips.

I am sure others have done the install alone at home but a lift and a second set of eyes will shorten the time.

The axle over pipes need to be rotated to even out the inward tips.

I would attempted another aligning, misaligned tips scream garage hack.

I confess it took me 3 visits to get the job done right. Different shops each time too. In the end a guy did the job the best and I had him tack weld the clamps. In my case the pipes moved twice on me.

A pry bar was useful too.

This was done on a lift and we made sure it was aligned perfectly, not just jacking it up with a floor jack in a driveway, not a (GarageHack), I have since taken it by two muffler shops and the last one Warner Muffler in Oceanside, he put it on his lift and told me that he could fix it by cutting the tips and realigning them, but said that he would contact Corsa, because of warranty issues, thanks EVC for the photos of your exhaust, will be contacting them on Monday, not happy how they look.

How was Corsa with the issue?

Thanks
