How do tall guys fit with helmet
Hey All,
I am getting ready to do a track day next month and I was wondering how you guys in the 6'4" height range fit in your c6 with a helmet? My head already touches the roof slightly in the morning when I get into the car. Do I need to change out my seat to fit and if so what type of seat sits lower than oem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am 6'3" and traded my Z06 for a GS because of headroom issues with a helmet. I pull the roof when autocrossing. Pulling the roof may or may not be an option for a track day and will depend on the organization's rules that are putting on the event. Broomstick test and all that.
As far as the seat options go, I can't help other than point you to the Autocrossing & Roadracing section. Plenty of info there and usually seats for sale in the classifieds.

Yeah, I had to stop wearing my cowboy hat while driving in the early 80s because of my RX7s limited headroom. And I'm only 6' 1". Anyone else remember being an "urban cowboy"? My son, who is 6' 4", fell in love with the Pontiac Solstice when the came out and had to go to the agency to have a look. The salesman got him to sit behind the wheel and his eyes were above the windshield frame. It was hilarious.

I'm 6'1 and in the proper seating position I have to tilt my head down slightly because of the helmet. It's ok for a number of 20 minute track sessions but I couldn't imagine having to be in their for long periods of time. Like what was said, during autox just take the top off. Most HPDE type events won't allow you to do that.

From my C5 days-
If I removed the top for a-x, it had to be totally removed from the car and not stored in the trunk. You want to scope out place where it won't get run over, stepped on, or blown away. A protective bag might help or the dust and grit on the top might produce more scratches in the bag than leaving it "naked."
I never tried HPDE with the top removed, but I bet the breeze at 120+ is awesum!
On the C5, the seat cushion sits on 4 wires that each have a coil spring for some give. I had to remove 2 of the springs/wires so the seat would sag and give more headroom, but on the C6 the bottom of the cushion is already hitting the floor when you lower it, so I don't see how the spring trick would help you.
For ordinary driving, my really tall friends tilt the seat back a little more and lean to the right.

Thanks for the input guys. I would remove the top if I could but my car is a Z06 so unless I bring a reciprocating saw and some tape to the track that is not an option.

I'm 6'6", and I have to slouch down in the seat with my helmet on. It's OK for 20 minute track sessions, or a run down the drag strip, but would not want to run the Big Bend Road race like that. Have thought about maybe removing the headliner? Not sure how much clearance that would give.
