Replacing 13 OEM radio with Pioneer5100
This is a request for help.
Pioneer AVIC-5100NEX installation.
I have had a 6 month delay in the R & R of the OEM Radio in my C6 2013 GS Coupe. After I watched a R & R vid on this forum, I took on the challenge of replacing it myself with a Pioneer AVIC-5100NEX. I chose this radio due to me installing front and rear cameras on the Vette. The 5100 radio's features puts the OEM Radio to shame...
Several unknowns with respect to the 5100 radio wiring have surfaced.
1). On the back, left bottom side of the OEM Radio is a small white 8 pin socket. The plug only has 2 wires, red and red with black stripe.
I am unable to determine where to connect it. Neither the 5100 radio manual nor the RP5-GM11 interface instructions address it.
2). My Vette's previous owner said he installed SiriusXM in the car and it worked. Haven't driven it enough to renew the contract.
The 5100 radio manual shows where to install the plug , BUT, I don't remember disconnecting any SiriusXM wire or plug from the OEM radio, nor can I find one.
3). The 5100 radio install manual shows the Blue/White (System Remote Control) wire connects to the auto-antenna booster or the antenna booster power control terminal. BUT, the RP5-GM11 interface instructions say to connect the Blue/White wire to the Amp Turn On Input. I do not have an after market amp. Which one is right?
4). The RP5-GM11 interface came with a 2 wire SWR plug (Steering Wheel Control plug).
A Blue/yellow wire and a 3.5mm Jack. Instructions say to only use the 3.5mm jack wire if installing a Pioneer radio.
The 5100 radio install manual gives no information nor shows any pic of the SWR socket on the back of the radio. If the plug is to be used, where does it go?
I purchased the equipment last January but moved from Az to Id.
Now it's too hot to be out doors, so the Vette in our garage gets an update.
I have been reading everything related to these questions with zero result. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
