Default Damn you eBay

Long story short, bought a ZR1 splitter and it didn't fit. It was 3 inches to long on both sides and the nose stuck out 2 inches. Contacted the seller and they said they'd be more than happy to exchange it as long as I paid shipping. Ok, cool, shipping cost more than what I paid for it. So I had no choice but to make it work. Cut it up and did my best lol

Had to cut out alot of material from the vents to be able to flex it

In this photo you can see a little bit of overhang. But its the best i could do considering its made for a widebody lol

Are you sure you bought one for the base vette and not the widebody?
Good job on retro fitting it.

never mind I see you said it was for a widebody

This is one of the reasons why all my transactions are done with my Amex. If it is not my fault, Amex backs me 100%. They will reverse the transaction if the seller is at fault, and they will generally, take my word for it, without much investigation.

Buyer pays for return shipping is standard Ebay policy. I Ebay a lot and always take that into consideration if I might need to return. I would also consider, and take the same route you did as I look at a purchase. Could I make it work if I was stuck with it? You did a great job and it looks fantastic! Lemon aide out of lemons!

Why didn't you just re-sell the ZR1 splitter and buy the correct one so you wouldn't have to modify it?

Yeah, all eBay did was provide a market place for the buyer and the seller. If 1) the buyer purchased the wrong part or 2) the seller misrepresented the part, it's hardly eBay's fault.

BTW, nice recovery by the OP. The cut and paste job looks professional.

it seems to look fine. But the question I have is, why are you so pissed at ebay? The seller did it, not ebay. Besides that, did you even look into fedex ground shipping, or USPS? I ship quite a few rifles via fedex...10 pounds, up to about 60 inches long, goes nationwide for under $20.

I get that you were disappointed, and I would be, too. If you want to buy something like this again on ebay, ask the buyer first if he will cover return shipping if he "misprespresents" the item. All you have to do is get his agreement to that via their email system, and you are covered.

Still not clear to me if the buyer or seller made the error. Was this a ZR1 style splitter made for a base car or a ZR1 splitter (what OP posted) that was made to fit a wide body car?

To clear up a few things, 1) it was represented as being for a base model. Company says they don't even stock wide body ones. Tried it on a friends GS and the fit was closer but still not right. IMO its just a bad part. 2) I didn't relist it because I felt it would be unethical considering. 3) ebay comment was tongue and cheek as I know they're not to blame.
